My horrible experience transferring miles from HDFC Bank Diners Club

a credit card with a globe and numbers

HDFC Bank Diners Club has some great promotions for travel and dining, which makes it a great card to hold in your wallet if you want to earn miles and points in India.

However, as I found out over the last quarter of 2015, they have an incredibly bureaucratic and clueless team to deal with the transfer, and the process is manual and very irritating. It took me over 2 months to get my points transferred from HDFC Bank’s point currency to the mileage programs I wanted them transferred in.

Huff-puff, and I reach AAdvantage EXP

In July, I wrote a post about how I was having trouble moving forward with my quest for AAdvantage status. I had done the required number of points, but somehow AA did not take a view on it. They are also implementing a no soft-landing policy this year, which led me to go down to base member tier in the first place. Usually, I’m able to comply with this 4 legs requirement early in the year itself, however, this year, business travel and personal travel was slow during the beginning of the year.It came later in the…

So how long does it take to upgrade an AAdvantage account again?

That is the question I am looking for an answer for, seems I can’t find it. See, I started with American Airlines AAdvantage program a few years back, and I’ve been an Executive Platinum for two years in a row. Last year, hardly travelled with them, and also this was the year they killed their policy for a soft landing, so I went straight to Member level as of March 1, 2014. Sigh, as much as I hate to let it go, I love my AAdvantage miles too much and also the program. I think it is one of the best out there in terms of mileage value. So i decided to see if I could crawl back from being…
