Etihad offering 25% discount on redemption tickets

Etihad is quickly turning into one of my favourite airline and mileage program as well. Not just a great airline First Class product, they are also part owner of Jet Airways’ frequent flyer program in India, and have some great domestic redemptions on offer. Apart from that, they are partners with Citi PremierMiles and Prestige, which ensures you can get Gold Status as well as miles on tap. Of course, there are bonus offers as well off and on. And one more generous promotion just came our way. Etihad has announced that if you book your mileage tickets before December 10, 2014, for redemptions on Etihad metal, you get 25% of your mileage back into your account, after the completion…

Mumbai: INR 150 Amazon voucher for booking a cabride via Olacabs

One of the new things that Ola has taken from the Uber playbook is to help hail regular licensed cabs via their app. A few weeks ago, they started to offer the ability to hail black-yellow cabs which are licensed cabs in Mumbai, via the app. Ola has apparently seeded the market with a lot of devices with taxi drivers that help the taxi drivers get a ride via their app. Except, in this case, the ride is metered like a regular cab ride, and paid for in cash. Ola has gone about town popularising this service, and putting in a good amount of cash in the hands of drivers to make sure they accept rides via the Ola app.…

Airbnb offering upto INR 4000 off to Amex India cardholders

Airbnb is a website where you can rent out lodging offered by other hosts in their homes in the form of a room, a bed or a complete apartment by itself. They have recently entered into a tie-up with American Express in India, to offer Amex’s Indian card members a discount of 50% (upto 4000 INR) for one booking per registered member. Here is how it works. You select a property on AirBnb, get your price quote in INR, then plug the coupon code which is AMEX#### (the #### are your Amex Card’s first 4 digits). This brings up the discount on your reservation and then you can go ahead and pay the rest of the amount. You can book…

Groupon offering GoAir discount vouchers

A few days ago, I wrote about the availability of British Airways discount vouchers on Groupon India. Groupon has been working with GoAir in the past as well, and now has a promotion available, where you can purchase GoAir discount vouchers on Groupon India. You have the opportunity to purchase an INR 99 voucher, which gives you an INR 850 discount on a one-way ticket, or an INR 199 voucher, which gives you an INR 1800 discount on a roundtrip. [Edit: Readers tell me you need INR 8000K worth of ticketing to be able to use it, something not stated in the T&C] The vouchers are one-time use only, and generated instantaneously and delivered to your email. However, to use…

Air India Award Seats at 25% off for travel till May 31, 2014

Update: It is now official and Air India has put out a promotion page as well. Air India seems to be on a roll these days with its frequent flyer program. I am guessing while I had a view that they are the most miser program out there, someone is working to change my view a bit. They still don’t provide 100% flown miles like Jet Airways does, but they have created new opportunities to earn miles such as the SBI Air India Credit Card, which can let you earn miles at about 8 INR spend per mile earned if you go for the top end variant. Now, a new unannounced mileage seat sale has come into play from today…

Hilton announces 2x points/miles summer promotion till July 2014

Hilton Hotels have announced their new points earning promotion which will run between May 1, 2014 to July 31, 2014. You earn Double (base) Points or Miles on all stays during the promotion period. This is close on the lines of SPG announcing a similar promotion. To be able to earn 2x Points/Miles, you need to register using this link, prior to your first check-out. About 600 properties have opted out. There is only the DoubleTree by Hilton Pune which has skipped this promotion from India. If you choose to go 2x on Points, you will have to select Points + Points as your DoubleDip earning option. Non-elites earn 10 base points per US Dollar spent, and with this promotion…

SPG’s new promotion offers 2x points till July 2014

Starwood launched their new promotion for the summer months of May through July 2014, and it is the regular 2x points per stay promotion they do many times over the past years. This time around, it is called the Earn Away Get Away, and earns you 2x points on all eligible stays (excluding Award nights and Cash+Points), and 3x points if your stay includes a Sunday as well. If you’re in the Middle East, Saturday counts instead of Sunday for the 3x points. This means, you earn 4 points per $ if you’re not an elite, and 6 points if you choose to bring in the weekend at an eligible SPG property as well. And yes, you get your elite…

Jet Airways discontinues 20% online redemption discounts

I’ve held off speculating on this for the longest time but I guess this is no longer in the realm of speculation. A couple of years back, Jet Airways came up with a marvellous proposition to upset everyone who thought the JetPrivilege program was going south. They introduced a 20% off on the number of miles on domestic redemptions, as long as these were made via the JetAirways.com website. They went on to extend this promotion for 6 months at a time, while other airlines such as Singapore Airlines offer an online discount as a permanent feature of their program (at 15% off). It is a good move in a way, because you’re limiting supply to an outer limit of…

Reminder: 1 week to register for the Citibank “Double your miles” promotion

In the beginning of November, I had written about the Double your Miles Promotion that is available on Citibank PremierMiles credit cards issued in India. Under the current version of the promotion, the top 5,000 spenders for the period November 1, 2013 to January 31, 2014 would be eligible for double PremierMiles (upto 50,000 PremierMiles), which would be credited to their account by March 15, 2014. However, this is an ‘opt-in’ promotion, and hence you need to pre-register by 31 December 2013 to be able to take part in the promotion. Do note, that regardless of what date you register, your spends between November 1, 2013 and January 31, 2014 would count to decide the winners. Do look out for…
