Is Jet Airways holding on to upgrades too tight?

Like you all know from my little airline dinner post I was over to the Middle-East this past week. While a full trip report will come up soon, this one got me asking why Jet Airways is holding on too tight to their premium cabin seats. Like I do when I travel and I need an upgrade with Jet Airways, I send them an email with the details of the travel team and voucher details. In this case, I wrote to them with the details and I was travelling KWI-BOM. The response from Jet Airways, amongst other things, included the following line: I was looking at the tickets the night before, and Premiere tickets were available on the route, right…

Why is Jet Airways assigning American Airlines elite levels to its FFs?

Some funny things are happening with the Jet Airways online engine for the past few days, and no one has been able to put a finger on why or what is going wrong. For about 3 weeks or more now, Jet Airways is showing up American Airline status tiers in their PNRs. Look at this ticket I booked a short while ago. A short-hop domestic flight I will take soon, but when you look at the red-circle, you see, for the purpose of this ticket Jet Airways shows my status as (GLD/RBY), which in AA and oneworld parlance should be Gold tier (AAdvantage)/Ruby (oneworld). When I booked the ticket, it showed my correct tier with Jet Airways, and now this.…

For those of you who had transferred your credit card points to JetPrivilege by 31st May 2012 under the Mega Miles bonus offer, the 25% bonuses have credited on 4th June 2012. While most of my bonuses have posted, a couple of them have not. I would advise all of you to log into your JP account and look up your mileage activity. If there are questions, feel free to drop me a comment here or an email and I will come back to you on it. Reminder: 5 days for Jet Airways 25% transfer bonus

A few weeks back I had written about the 25% Jet Airways transfer bonus that is valid for your Card reward points, if you transfer and receive the transferred points in your Jet Privilege account by May 31st. This is just a quick reminder that the transfer bonus will go out on the 31st of May and if you want to transfer out your points you should do that now! With a few banks that I have experience with, HDFC Bank will take a few days, ICICI Bank will happen within 48 hours and Citibank will transfer overnight, so will American Express. So go on, pick up the phone and make those requests now if you want to receive the…

Jet Airways offers 25% bonus on credit card conversions to miles till 31st May 2012

I seriously can’t believe my eyes that this one missed my eye. See, I am Jet Airways favourite child, so I never receive their mailers and I am supposed to figure out the entire JetPrivilege program on my own. And I’ve ignored this one for a month or so because some lazy copywriter Jet Airways employs at their office or their website office has the date written as 2011, so I just ignored! Anyways, the good news is that Jet Airways and the credit card partners feel generous and hence a 25% bonus on transfer/conversion of points to miles from any of their 15 credit card partner’s reward points into JP miles. And there are also conversion rewards for the…

JetPrivilege 20% discount on redemption pulled for international sectors

If I earned 1$ for everytime I picked up a mistake Jet Airways makes, I’d be a millionaire by now. A few days ago I wrote about the very generous Jet Airways redemption offer where all redemptions on Jet Airways metal, made online, were going to be priced at a 20% discount on miles. This offer was made to tie-in with the recent enhancements of the Jet Airways JetPrivilege program. As a part of the offer, all JetPrivilege redemptions made using the website jetairways.com would attract the discount. The offer page as well does not limit the benefit only to domestic flights (see screenshots below): For the first few days you could book tickets to go on international sectors with…

Jet Airways offers 20% off on reward redemptions till Sep 30,12

A couple of days back I wrote about the new benefits that Jet Airways was going to announce in the JetPrivilege program, and the official mailer went out last night to most members on the new program benefits. Most of the benefits are in line with the benefits I highlighted a couple of days back, except that the Priority Baggage Tagging benefit for Silver members was not there when the final mailer went out to members. In one stroke, from being a not-so-generous program for domestic flyers, it has become a good program to earn miles while flying across India, considering earlier you could only earn a paltry 142 miles on a BOM-DEL flight if you booked into the lowest…

Jet Airways revamps JetPrivilege program (in a good way!), adds benefits across the board!

I’ve dried enough ink criticizing the Jet Airway’s Jet Privilege program, with the constant devaluation that has been going on for the past few months. First, they sized down the benefits from the Jet Airways Citibank Credit Card (forcing me to move out of the card), then the lounge access was pruned. Some Jet-lovers, including yours truly, saw it coming and petitioned Jet to rethink their strategy w.r.t. JetPrivilege again. However, the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel seems to have arrived yesterday when some new benefits of the JetPrivilege program went up on the website. I’m sure we will hear more of it in the days to come, but right now Jet Airways seems to have aligned…

Jet Airways cuts lounges across India w.e.f. Jan 1, 2012

Somehow Jet Airways’ does not seem ever interested in informing this lowly Gold member of their JetPrivilege program about their new initiatives, so I’ve had to depend on FlyerTalk for this update. Jet Airways has apparently being ‘Reviewing’ its lounge contracts with all the airports it operates with in India, and is terminating about 10 of them. 9W, in an email sent out to select members of the Jet Privilege program, believes that the product offering would become diluted or unviable at these airports, and hence is terminating them from January 1, 2012. Going forward, Jet Privilege will offer lounge access at the following airports domestically, and that too only for Platinum, Gold, Silver and Jet Airways Citibank Credit Card…

Sign-up to save Jet Privilege, here!

The ongoing changes to Jet Airways FFP are just a small episode in the saga that has been playing out for a while. Over a period of time you must have found me singing praises of their service levels, but also the difficulties in getting benefits as a frequent flyer with Jet Airways. Here are some of the issues faced in the past: Non-availability on Jet Airways F for mileage redemption Limited availability on Jet Airways J for mileage redemption Upgrades don’t clear Parity in redemption for Jet Airways and Jet Airways Konnect (the low-cost brand) Except for the first issue, I can personally vouch for each of these issues to have happened to me. Considering I do not have…
