Cathay Pacific unveils a brand refresh

Cathay Pacific is one of the better airlines out there, and they know it as much as the world does. Airlines are a customer facing business as much as they are a behind-the-scene show, and airlines continuously work to catch eyeballs, which they would like to convert into butts in seats going forward. Cathay Pacific has just started to roll out their brand refresh, which is something they are doing after a gap of 20 years. As a part of this roll out plan, the first instance will be the refreshed brand identity, which will be rolled out over the next few days across the network, and will last into the next 18 months. First step, the logo, addressed as…

The smallest and most tasteless economy meal award goes to Cathay Pacific

Just last month I had the unwanted honor of having perhaps the smallest ‘Dinner’ meal on a Jet Airways flight. I’m afraid I’m going to have to institute a rolling trophy on this one and pass it on from Jet Airways to Cathay Pacific. I was flying a red-eye BKK-BOM in economy which the Cathay Pacific staff had confirmed to have dinner service. Since I barely had much to eat in the day, I decided to lounge-hop in the evening at the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport and I grabbed a little bite at each of the 3 airport lounges I visited. However, when dinner service started, the FA told me there was the option of Chicken and Rice in non-vegetarian helpings…

A good Klout score is all you need to get into Cathay Pacific’s SFO F Lounge

I’m assuming everyone of you readers reading this has some sort of online social identity via Facebook, Google+ or Twitter. Klout is a site which measures your social influence by looking at all sorts of factors such as number of followers, number of likes on your post and others. They announced an interesting deal with Cathay Pacific yesterday, where a Klout score of 40 or upwards allows Klout users to access the recently-opened Cathay Pacific First and Business Class Lounge in San Francisco. Earlier than today, only F & J customers of the airline, and oneworld elites flying a oneworld-member airline could be the only ones who could access the lounge. Under the terms of the deal, anyone who complies…

Cathay Pacific Premium Economy is now available for booking

Back in December, I had written about the new Cathay Pacific Premium Economy product which was going to be launched in Q1 2012, and put up on Sydney, Toronto, New York and Vancouver flights from Hong Kong, before being put out on the rest of the network. These seats will have a separate cabin of their own, which will be not more than 34 seats at any time. So, privacy is assured, unlike some other Premium Eco products where you only get a better seat but in the front of the same cabin. Welcome drinks, including Champagne, will be offered, and the meals will be better than Y. Top it off with a big amenity kit, and noise cancelling headphones…

Cathay Pacific to add Premium Economy seats from Q1 2012

Cathay is quite easily a very likeable airline, and I love them for all the shorthauls I do when travelling around Hong Kong on work trips. However, now they are giving me a reason to try out their long haul product, with the launch of the Premium Economy Class in March 2012. These will be introduced first on the routes to Sydney, Toronto, Vancouver and New York, followed by London, LA, San Francisco and continental Europe. The announcement made to members of the Marco Polo Club loyalty program detail the added benefits of the Premium Economy class which is, much more than just the seat! According to Cathay, there will be a separate priority check-in and priority boarding over Economy…
