While I write this, I hope you’ve all registered for the PremierMiles top 2000 spenders contest for this quarter where these guys get to double their miles. Contest is opt – in so if you don’t register, you don’t get counted. Now, first for the big news. Etihad Guest, the loyalty program of Etihad airlines, is now a partner with the PremierMiles program. I think this went online today, since last I checked a couple of days back, this partner was not there on the list. From now on, you can also transfer your PremierMiles 1:1 on Etihad Guest account as well, though Etihad charging 147K for a BOM-JFK roundtrip is not giving me a good feeling on these guys…

Your Bonus PremierMiles have been posted!
I’ve said more than enough about my love for the Citibank PremierMiles credit card. You can read the review here. Back in May I had posted about a lovely promotion these bankers came up with to promote their credit card product. Since they already offered 10 PremierMiles per Rs. 100 on air travel, they added a 4-month long promotion, where international travel and any kind of hotel stays would have got you the same rewards as well. All the things that matter to a traveller, no? All the bonus miles were going to come in one big lot, which was supposed to be in November. However, what can only speak for itself, they outdid their own commitment and all members…
Citibank adjusts some PremierMiles redemptions
I think getting into tourist season, coupled with the high prices of oil is forcing the hand of Citibank on the PremierMiles card. Citibank has revised redemption rates on some routes which are short-haul and have seen decreasing capacity from airlines (read increasing airfares), w.e.f. 1st October 2012. I notice that some of the routes are seeing a 30% increase in miles needed for redemption, such as Mumbai – Goa which goes up from 4000 Miles to 5200 on a low-cost carrier. Take note, that unlike an airline reward ticket, Citibank PremierMiles redemptions mean you redeem your points for a PAID ticket that is issued to you, so you can actually earn miles on these tickets as well if you…
Citibank PremierMiles: New promotion and Indigo redemptions
Citibank is notching it up a few levels with the PremierMiles credit card. If you remember, they offered double miles for all hotel and international spends for the period June to September 2012. Now, there is a new one. For the period 1 October 2012 to 31 December 2012, Citibank is offering to double the miles of its top 2,000 spenders up to 25,000 PremierMiles. This being an opt-in promotion, one needs to pre-register by 30 November 2012 and only whose who register will have their spends considered for the promotion. Use this link to register, it takes you to the Citibank India website. All spends done by registered PremierMiles Cardholders during 01 October 2012 and 31 December 2012 will…
Reader Question: Amex Plat Travel v/s Citibank PremierMiles, what is better?
A reader Ajay posted a query on the Reader’s Questions page a few days back about the best credit card to pick to generate miles on travelling. Here is the little ping-pong we’ve had so far: Ajay asked: Hi Aj, I want to get a new credit card and it looks like the AmEx Gold Charge Card and CitiBank Premier Miles card are the best available options. What would you suggest I get? Here is some information to help you help me make an informed decision! 1. I travel 1-2 times a month domestically and 1-2 times a year internationally.2. I have FF accounts with SQ, Jet, and Emirates but don’t have a lot of miles on any as I…
Citibank PremierMiles: Changes and promotions
My go-to credit card these days is the Citibank PremierMiles credit card, and I’ve noticed I must have missed some terms & conditions which now seem changed. I earlier told you in this post, that the Citibank PremierMiles card only earns 10 Miles per Rs. 100 for the first Rs. 500,000 of airline transactions. Earlier, the Terms & Conditions did not explicitly make the Premiermiles.co.in website spend a part of this limit. However, seems like the T&C were reworded recently, and now, the limit is clubbed within the same limit. Have a look: So, while I personally don’t like this new update, where I get only Rs. 500K worth of tickets with 10 PM/ Rs. 100, I’m going to live…
Citibank PremierMiles Card: more changes!
For those of you who have recently received their Citibank PremierMiles cards after the Jet Airways Citibank credit cards were discontinued (and prior loyalists like myself), here is a recap of some of the incremental changes in the offering that has happened over the past few months: The new cards, as well as the earlier issuances earn 4 PremierMiles per Rs. 100 spent on normal spend (see here). On airfare, the 10 PremierMiles per Rs. 100 spent has been limited to the first Rs. 500,000 spent directly with the airlines. Regular 4 PM per Rs. 100 spent applies afterwards (see here). Bookings via premiermiles.co.in does not attract this limit and gets you 10 PremierMiles per Rs. 100 spent all the…
Citibank India to devalue reward points for airmile transfers from 1 Sept’12
If you use a ‘regular’ credit card, i.e., not a mileage earning one or a co-branded card from Citibank, you are most probably earning reward points for your transactions on the card. Now, while most people like to use these reward points for ordering shopping vouchers or gifts from their rewards catalogue, all my reward points are usually transferred to my mileage accounts with one or the other airlines. Citibank offers the capability to convert these reward points to airmiles on Jet Privilege and Air India Flying Returns. They are now going to reduce the number of miles offered per reward point with effect from 1st September 2012 on these regular credit cards. As per the conversion chart posted on…
Hang on, do not use your Citi PremierMiles for Jet Airways redemptions
So I have been telling you to go get yourselves the Citibank PremierMiles Credit Card for a while, right? Like I recently wrote, Citibank and Jet Airways walked away from the Jet Airways co-branded partnership. But this seems to have had a huge impact on the ability of Citibank to run its PremierMiles program as well. A few days after this move, Citibank PremierMiles portal www.premiermiles.co.in could not display any tickets on Jet Airways, either for revenue or for redemption. What validated the assumption that Jet Airways/Jet Konnect was not showing up on the PremierMiles website by design was this little note that turns up every now and then asking you to book on the Jet Airways website and get…
New partners on the Citibank PremierMiles card and 1 week to convert from Jet Airways CC
Its been a while since I’ve given you an update on the Citibank PremierMiles credit card. If you’re a Citibank Jet Airways credit card holder, the date to convert to the PremierMiles credit card is coming closer and you have one more week to call the Citibank helpline and get your card converted. I recently reviewed the ‘new’ PremierMiles credit card. If you call before 30 June 2012 to convert your card, you get the new Citibank PremierMiles credit card for Rs. 1,000 annual fee and 10,000 PremierMiles in your account after your first transaction. Here are some pointers to add to your decision-making if you haven’t made your decision yet. Like you know, Jet Airways has been offering 3x…
Citibank Premier Miles Card changes and special promo on international spends
For those of you who have picked up a Citibank Premier Miles Card in its earlier shape and size, here is some good news and bad news. Citibank is commonsizing the old and new product, and hence, changing the mileage earning capability on the new card in the following manner: Effective 21st May 2012, Citibank has moved the mileage earning to earn 4 miles per Rs. 100 spent on non-airline categories, up from the current rate of 2.5 miles per Rs. 100. 10 miles per Rs. 100 at airlines continues, but now capped to airline spends of Rs. 5 Lakhs in a calendar year. For spends beyond this, you would earn 4 miles per Rs. 100 spent. It is not clear how will…
