While I’ve been waiting for Uber to come to my city of Mumbai, Uber has gone ahead and launched in Secret Uber mode (Beta) in Chennai last evening. This is the fourth city they’ve launched in India, which means Mumbai does not get the privilege of Uber in January 2014. The other cities are Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderabad. Here is how my first experience with them went in Delhi. Now, Uber in Chennai can be ordered via the smartphone app for iOS and Android phones, and all you need is a credit card number fed into your phone app to be able to bill the rides to, since Uber works cashless and you don’t have to pay when you release…

Register for Uber to get 200% startup credit extended till 31 January 2014
Uber has been offering a generous double referral for new referrals for new signups for most of January 2014, and they extended this promotion till January 31, 2014. If you haven’t tried out their services yet, and you live in one of the 26 cities they operate in right now, maybe this is a good time to at least sign up, because you would get yourself double the referral amounts in your Uber account, from what is usually offered. For instance, a new account in the USA will be credited with $20, in UAE with AED80, in India with INR 600, in Hong Kong with HKD 140 and so on, which is double from the usual amounts. And you don’t…
Previewing Ola Luxury Mumbai
Like I wrote a few days back, Ola Cabs recently started to offer a Limo service in Mumbai, giving themselves a headstart over Uber which will be launching in Mumbai soon as well. I wanted to try out the services, however, had a tough time getting my hands on one of their few cars which are on the road right now. Reason, I figured was most of these cars are positioned in suburban Mumbai, and I live in South Mumbai. So, my first experience with them only happened past Saturday, when I could finally snap one of their cars which might have made a ride into South Mumbai. You can only book via the app which is available for iPhones…
Olacabs cashback of Rs. 75 per booking for 2014
A few weeks back, I had written about the opportunity to receive Rs. 75 as cashback everytime you used the taxi aggregator OlaCabs around India. At that point of time, it was valid only till till the end of 2013. However, I recently checked and there is a renewed opportunity to earn Rs. 75 as cashback everytime you make a confirmed booking for OlaCabs (Local Taxi, Local Rental or Outstation Rental), for the foreseeable future (the next 4 years actually!) You could register yourself at CashKaro.com, and then search for Ola Cabs on their website. After you have selected Ola Cabs, click through their website and go to the OlaCabs website. From here, you can make a taxi reservation just…
Get double Uber Credits for your first ride
Uber is getting up and ready around India and has launched their services in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Delhi in 2013. Mumbai will be their next destination. Uber, being an on-demand car service, does not require prior reservation. You just flip your smartphone out of the pocket, and order an Uber Black car. The app tells you the expected waiting time, which is usually 5-10 minutes, and then you have a high-end car, typically a Mercedes, BMW, Toyota, Honda or Volvo sedan picking you up. You don’t really need to pay the driver in cash, because your credit card is automatically billed for your trip. If you want to add a tip, you can just log into your Uber Account to…
Uber launches in Bangalore, try it out with Uber Credits
Uber, the SF-based super-premium car aggregator, recently launched in India, with their first Indian outpost being Bangalore. They’ve been testing their service since the past month or so, and now rolled out in the city. At the heart of the Uber experience is your smartphone, which you can flick out, and order for a car in the neighborhood using the Uber app (available for iPhones and Android), and the car will turn up at your door within a few minutes. In Bangalore, they’ve started with the Original Uber, which means a Mercedes E220 or an Audi A6 or another similar car. The pricing during the test phase was a base fare of Rs. 150 and Rs. 20 per kilometer, which…
