Get double Uber Credits for your first ride

Uber is getting up and ready around India and has launched their services in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Delhi in 2013. Mumbai will be their next destination. Uber, being an on-demand car service, does not require prior reservation. You just flip your smartphone out of the pocket, and order an Uber Black car. The app tells you the expected waiting time, which is usually 5-10 minutes, and then you have a high-end car, typically a Mercedes, BMW, Toyota, Honda or Volvo sedan picking you up.

You don’t really need to pay the driver in cash, because your credit card is automatically billed for your trip. If you want to add a tip, you can just log into your Uber Account to add a percentage which is automatically billed again. You can read my review of my first Uber trip in India here.

Uber is just about getting started in India, and I expect them to be a large player in the markets they choose in the high-end transportation segment. They have a great referral program as well. Usually, Uber offers Rs. 300 for your first ride, but uptil January 20, Uber is offering Rs. 600 referral credit when you take your first ride with them. You can sign up using my referral link, or post your own in the comments section below. Once you’ve taken your first ride, your credit will post to your account.

  1. I heard the same in Hyderabad, sooner or later they will increase prices for Luxury cars and also bring in economy class segment at current prices.. but that was just from Uber driver.

Also, on NYE they were charging surcharge (1.5X) during peak hours..

    • @Gaurav, Uber will only launch the Uber black limo service right now. I haven’t heard the talk about Uber Taxi (cheaper sedans) coming in yet.

As for 1.5x on NYE, they call the concept surge pricing and they sent out advance emails to explain the concept to customers. Hope you got one as well.

  2. @AJ – The Cab Drivers told me that the promotional fares in delhi were supposed to be for 3 months only ,which were supposed to end 15 Dec . It got extended by a month to 15 Jan . Lets hope the current pricing stays for a while longer.

  3. Hi AJ, I have heard that they are increasing prices from the 15th Jan. Any news you have about that?
    Thanks.

    • @Rohan none that I know of at the moment. But in Bangalore they reduced prices after test launch since they found that the public found it to be on the higher side.
