Most Air Berlin frequent flyers are worried about many things these days, and their status is one of them. Air Berlin as an airline is in the process of closing down operations, and Lufthansa will be buying part of their planes and taking over staff as well.
To have them over, Iberia has now launched a new status match which gets you status on to Iberia if you have status on Lufthansa or Air Berlin.
TopBonus Silver members or Miles & More Frequent Traveler tier gets upgraded to the Iberia Plus Plata, which corresponds to the oneworld Ruby status. Miles & More Senator and HON Circle Members, as well as TopBonus Gold and Platinum members, receive the Iberia Plus Oro status which is oneworld Sapphire status.
If you don’t have an account with Iberia’s program, you can sign up now and pick up a 1000 Avios for registering. If you already have an account, you need to fill up this form and let them take over by sending it along with a picture of your status card to ibpcampaign@iberia.es.
Bottomline
If you like oneworld and would like to stay with them, this is a great opportunity to move on from Air Berlin or Lufthansa and come into the fold of oneworld.
Will you status match to Iberia Plus?

Could you include some information on exactly where the 1000 avios offer for new accounts is, because I cannot find it googling it or going to the Iberia Plus page
@scott, it is added by default to everyone who signs up to Iberia as a new account bonus or something.
