When it comes to the impact of Covid-19, Hong Kong and its associated airline were heavily impacted by the closures caused due to Covid-19. And when the travel restrictions were lifted, the world was already open, and the tourists had gone elsewhere.

As part of the relief package for Hong Kong’s aviation industry during the pandemic, Airport Authority Hong Kong provided liquidity support to home-based carriers in 2020 by sponsoring air tickets in advance. The air tickets were to be used to promote traffic recovery when the pandemic subsided. Hong Kong has now opened up. To bring the buzz back around travelling to Hong Kong, Cathay Pacific and the Hong Kong Airport have put together the World of Winners campaign, offering free tickets to Hong Kong for folks worldwide. 

Cathay Pacific to give away 4,260 Free Tickets in India.

As part of the “World of Winners” campaign, Cathay Pacific is mandated to hand out 500,000 free tickets to people worldwide. The Hong Kong International Airport sponsors the campaign and supports the Hong Kong Tourism Boards’ Hello Hong Kong campaign.

As a part of the campaign, Cathay Pacific will offer residents across India, Bangladesh, Nepal and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) 5,590 round-trip air tickets to Hong Kong. The campaign will be launched simultaneously in India, Bangladesh, Nepal and UAE on May 22, 2023.

Simultaneously, an array of offers from over 16,000 outlets across the city have been put together by the HKTB and the tourism and hospitality sectors to welcome back visitors. Among which, at the initial stage, at least 1 million “Hong Kong Goodies” visitor consumption vouchers will be on offer, covering a complimentary welcome drink at participating bars, restaurants, and hotels or a cash voucher to be redeemed in the transportation, culinary and retail sectors, as well as attractions.

“World of Winners” Ticket Offers

To try their hand at winning one of the 4,260 tickets in India, the participants must be Cathay members (the loyalty programme of Cathay Pacific). You can sign up for a free membership on Cathay Pacific’s website if you are not a member. During the campaign period, members must visit Cathay Pacific’s campaign website, sign in using their Cathay membership details, and register for the lucky draw. You need to be at least 18 years of age to participate at the time of signing up for the giveaway. Here is the link to the Giveaway for India.

Each member may submit one entry only. The winners will be announced on the campaign website, and they will receive an email with details on redeeming their prizes. Here are the timelines of the campaign.

The ticket redemption code must be used within one month of the date of the Redemption Code Email. Tickets are valid for nine months from the issue date of the Redemption Code Email. Remember, the tickets only waive the base fare, so you should still expect to pay INR 12,000, give or take, towards the airport taxes in India and so on.

But Cathay Pacific will allow you to earn miles on these tickets, which is some solace. The ticket will book in the O fare class, earning you 25% miles of distance flown on the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan. The minimum stay period for the ticket is two days, and the maximum is seven days. A travel blackout period applies.

Bottomline

Cathay Pacific is giving away 4200 free round trip tickets in Economy for participants from India between May 22 and May 28, 2023. The tickets need you to stay for a minimum of two nights and a maximum of seven in Hong Kong, and the taxes and any applicable surcharges are on you.
