This afternoon, I wrote about the changes to the Jet Airways frequent flyer program JetPrivilege, which was recently bought over by Etihad as a part of their investment in Jet Airways. Subsequent to the post, this evening, I heard from Manish Dureja, who now heads the JetPrivilege company, and explained to me the changes and the perspective to the changes. First and foremost, he clarified that the changes are not going to be all negative, but mostly positive for the customer. He explained that while they’ve been intending to do a lot over the years, he has been working with his team over the past 3 years to overhaul the program, which now looks possible given they are a loyalty…

Breaking: Jet Airways redemption award chart gutting without any notice!
Update: Jet Airways came back with a clarification. Check here. The ball has dropped. This is unofficial but a developing story. Okay, enough for the sensationalism. This morning, I was playing around with the Jet Airways website, trying to tuck in a redemption or few. I hadn’t gotten in on their up to 50% off sale fare, so I wanted to make some redemptions to go places. I noticed that there are changes in the award chart. Get some water, gulp it down, and then lets go over the changes till the end. Domestic Redemptions: Between –30 to +20% miles in most cases from October 2014 Here is a link to the old redemption chart. While I did not manage…

Jet Airways is upping the redemption game which they started a few years back, offering a 50% off on mileage redemption tickets across India for this quarter as of today. For the past two years, Jet Airways offered a 20% off on mileage redemptions, if booked online, something they discontinued in April 2014. Now, for travel between July 7, 2014 to September 30, 2014, they are offering a 50% off for redemptions across their domestic sectors in economy and Premiere class if you choose to make the redemption online. The promotion is valid for JP redemption bookings made between July 07, 2014 to July 21, 2014, only if you issue your tickets using the online redemption engine on www.jetairways.com. So,…
Amex MR to adjust mileage transfer ratio (downwards) in India again
Last year, American Express went about readjusting the cost of transferring MR points into miles with various programs they partner with. While the usual transfer rate used to be 1.6 MR = 1 Mile, after last year’s readjustment everything except JPMiles and Air India Flying Returns Points, everything was 2 MR = 1 Mile. Now, as per email communication being sent out to members today, this will change as of May 2014 as well: Effective May 10, 2014, there will be a change in airline miles redemption for Jet Airways and Air India. The existing Membership Rewards redemption rate of 1 JPMile for every 1.6 Membership Rewards Points and 1 Air India Mile for every 1.25 Membership Rewards Points would…
Jet Airways offering double miles on Bangalore/Hyderabad–Abu Dhabi & v.v.
Like I wrote a couple of weeks back, Jet Airways is launching new routes from Bangalore & Hyderabad to Abu Dhabi. To celebrate this launch, they are offering double base miles for the first two months on these sectors, i.e., between March 1 and April 30 2014. This means you can net about 8300 JP Miles if you fly economy on these route round trip before this date (including 250 JPMiles for web-checkin and 500 JPMiles as online booking bonus per segment). If you have some sort of status with Jet Airways, you’ll get your tier bonuses as well. If you travel business class, you can get another 850 miles per segment approximately. And not to forget, if you book…

Last week, I wrote about the new long-haul flight from Jet Airways, which will be Mumbai – Paris – Mumbai, a daytime departure from India to get into Paris, and an overnight flight from Paris to Mumbai. Jet Airways has announced special fares for this route for any dates, which will be available for purchase upto February 10 28, 2014. So if you like Paris in November, or in January, or in the summers, you can lock in your seats at INR 45,000 all inclusive for economy and INR 1,53,000 for business class already. ICICI & Citibank PremierMiles mileage earning changes for 2014
I wanted to put out this post so that I could remind all of you of certain changes that are supposed to kick in as of January 1, 2014 for Citibank PremierMiles and ICICI Bank Jet Airways credit cards. Citibank PremierMiles had waived off the cap of INR 5,00,000 per annum on Airline tickets spend to earn Accelerated mileage (10 PremierMiles/INR 100 spend) last June as a special promotion. However, this promotion was valid only till December 31, 2013. From January 1, 2014, any airline spend as defined below, will earn 10 PM/INR 100 spend till you reach the limit of INR 5,00,000 for the year, and then you earn 4 PM/INR 100 for airline spends on an on-going basis as…
Reminder: 4 days to get 20% bonus on conversion to JPMiles
Jet Airways has been running a lucrative 20% bonus on conversion of your points to JPMiles for a while now. It comes and goes every now and then. In the current avatar, the following banks/loyalty program points are being converted to miles with 20% bonus: American Express Citibank India/UAE (ex PremierMiles issued in India) HDFC Bank HSBC IndusInd Bank Kotak Payback Punjab National Bank SBI Card Standard Chartered Bank (India/UAE) Tata Cards RBS Additionally, there is a promotion on conversion of Hotel loyalty points into JPMiles as well, which will expire on 31 December 2013 as well. Not the greatest, in my belief, however, some of you might want to use it to top off your JP accounts as well.…
American Express offering 30,000 JPMiles signup bonus for Jet Airways co-branded credit card
Last year, when American Express and Jet Airways launched their co-branded Jet-Airways American Express Credit Card, they offered a special sign-up bonus of 10,000 JPMiles over and above the welcome gift of 20,000 JPMiles which is the standard on-going offer. However, the sign-up bonus was only available to those who paid the INR 10,000 + taxes as first year fees, hence, I chose to pay the fee in spite of being a JetPrivilege Platinum member and eligible for the credit card free of cost. I was getting miles at INR 0.33 per JPmile, and it was hard to beat that value. On my last Jet Airways flight earlier this week, I saw flyers around the cabin talking about the special…
Unlimited lounge access on ICICI-Jet-Amex credit cards, and extra JP Miles
ICICI Bank’s Jet Airways co-branded credit cards have now completed about a full year in the business. When they started, they had a lot of issues with putting out credit cards, most of which are now resolved. Very recently, they offered a special promotion where there were extra JPMiles going out for signing up for the Visa version, or spending on the Visa version of the ICICI Bank 9W credit card. Now, a few important changes made to the product offering. Earlier, there were only 4 complimentary visits allowed per annum to the Altitude Lounge in Mumbai and Delhi. Now, this changes from 1st November 2013 onwards to make it unlimited trips to the lounges. Here are the reviews of…
