Can Jet Airways harmonise their Boeing 737 fleets please?

Just last week, I was away to Vietnam on Jet Airways’ latest route, fully aware that Jet Airways operates a Boeing 737 flight, via Bangkok. Now, as a 22 year old airline, I can appreciate that Jet Airways has inducted planes over the years. But to have a zillion uncoordinated products, is not really giving customers on the international segments a harmonious experience. For instance, when I flew from Mumbai to Bangkok on 9W70, I got a plane (VT-JBY), which had a leatherette business class, however, with no Audio Video on Demand. There was a simple overhead screen, playing a video. However, there was no audio channel to hear out the video on. There was no in-seat power, so, my…

A cheap way to extend validity of your JP Miles for 2 years and earn some in the process

One of the new enhancements that JetPrivilege rolled out for members a few weeks ago was the extension of their miles validity from 3 years to 5 years, as long as you had one co-branded debit or credit card, and one activity on the card in the past year. I think it is a great feature to offer, and I personally benefit from it if I drop off from my Platinum status sometime. Now, just very recently, HDFC and JetPrivilege’s co-branded debit card, dropped fees to INR 500 per annum (free for first year for Classic,Preferred and Imperia banking members). In this case, you’re getting 1000 JP Miles, to set up your debit card, 2000 JP Miles for your first…

Jet Airways’ meal pre-ordering service does not work, no really!

If there is one wish I have in this lifetime, that is Jet Airways fixing its meal services. However, this post is not about that, but about their recently launched meal pre-ordering service. In December, Jet Airways’ started to offer meal pre-ordering for their premium cabin passengers, flying on international flights.  As per Jet Airways, you can pick a meal from the options offered online between 60 days to 2 days out. I was booked to fly with them in January to Vietnam on their newly introduced flight to Ho Chi Minh City, in Business Class. So, I decided to take a spin on this meal service. Over many days, I selected meals, however nothing stuck on the ticket. Every time…

Jet Airways’ 24-hour cancellation facility fails me!

Update: Jet Airways did pick this up from Twitter and called me to resolve the issue. They informed me there was a glitch due to the coding of the Non-Refundable Rules however the policy was valid for my fare and hence the ticket would be manually cancelled. I have been going to town about the greatest thing on earth since the Swiss Knife: called 24-hours free cancellation by Jet Airways. When the facility was launched, it said that all passengers on domestic or international itineraries would be able to cancel their tickets within 24 hours if they had a change of plans, no questions asked! Yesterday, I was booking up some firm plans with Jet Airways, since it was the last…

Jet Airways to offer 24-hours cancellation/amendment window online

I really love it when there is real competition in the skies, and players are all trying to win the battle. Ever since the announcement last year that Jet Airways is back to being a full service carrier, I’ve seen shades of them upping the game.  They have added a lot of new online functionality, and are in the process of working even more on the website. Book your meal for international flights as a premium cabin flyer View your upcoming trips online One new feature/benefit that has been provided this morning is the ability to cancel/amend bookings online, within 24 hours of making a reservation. Several times, you may make a travel plan but things fall apart or you…

Jet Airways now offering sale fares till January 18, 2015

Day before yesterday, Air India kicked off fare wars 2015 edition with a sale. Last night, Jet Airways joined them in the pursuit to bring low fares to India. As per this sale, you are going to be able to book tickets across India domestic sectors by January 18, 2015 for travel till April 15, 2015. The fare class to look out for is ‘B’, and you’ll need to be careful that this sale is valid only for direct flights, which means a hopping flight is fine, but connections are not if you want to benefit from the fare sale. Also, unlike Air India, Jet Airways is offering these tickets in the non-refundable fare bracket, but you will be able…

JetPrivilege offering 2-3x bonus miles Jan-Mar 2015

Jet Airways clearly has a great tool in its fight against all the incoming new carriers, and it is called JetPrivilege. So yesterday, when Vistara announced the launch of their operations on the Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Ahmedabad and Mumbai-Ahmedabad sectors as of January 9, 2015, Jet Airways hit back with some nice goodies to tell them who is the boss! Yes, Jet Airways flights on all these segments will earn double bonus miles in economy on all the sectors listed above, and triple in business class. These miles are apart from the tier and cabin bonuses for both these airlines. All flights booked before the promotion launch date also qualify. Join over 4000 people who check-in daily to find out about the…

Jet Airways’ First & Business pax can now book meals on international flights

One of the recent enhancements that Jet Airways has rolled out, albeit quietly, is the ability to book your meals ahead of the flight. With effect from December 1, 2014, passengers who fly their First or Business class cabins on international flights will be able to pre-order a meal ahead of the flight, between 60 days to 48 hours prior to departure.   You can choose to book a meal when you are booking your ticket online, or using the manage your booking section on the flight. The choices work surprisingly smoothly. To take the feature for a test drive, I pulled up a reservation for later months, and here is what I saw… I further poked the Select Meal…
