GVK Lounge Mumbai is not accepting Jet Airways customers

I just got back in from a week-long of travel, so I was looking forward to catching up with the news on my couch this morning and start writing the trip reports. Oddly enough, however, I got a bad piece of news going up first. It relates to Jet Airways Lounge Mumbai T2.

This morning, one of our regular readers Nishith Pandya, pinged me on Twitter, telling me about how a new notice went up at the lounge. The GVK Lounge has stopped Jet Airways customers from accessing the lounge, presumably this morning onwards. I visited the lounge on Saturday, and this notice was not there. And now this.

This looks to me like the GVK Lounge Domestic, and I am not sure if the other GVK Lounges, such as GVK Lounge East Wing and GVK Lounge Premium Class / GVK Lounge First Class have also put in similar measures for Jet Airways passengers.

Jet Airways has confirmed, indeed, that temporarily they are unable to offer Lounge Access at Mumbai Airport.

Jet Airways also told Nishith that they expect to solve this situation soon.

This is something unanticipated because no formal notice has been given to Jet Airways customers about this withdrawal of service, even if temporarily. I would not speculate at the moment about why this would have happened, but if you still want to access the GVK Lounge and are an eligible customer (Premiere, JetPrivilege Platinum or Gold), they would be happy to take you in against another card such as your Visa/MasterCard/Diners Club/American Express or Priority Pass. Or we could just wait for the new American Express Lounge to open up.

I’ll fill you up with more details when I find any. But at the moment, this is the best we know. If you are passing through the lounge, and notice any further updates, do share with us as well.

What are your thoughts about this new situation for Jet Airways customers at Mumbai Airport?

  1. No bhuj to Mumbai flight change from Rajkot to Mumbai two days later flight was cancelled travel by coach to Ahmedabad to Mumbai flight 4.30 my flight from Mumbai to London is 1.30 and I just fou5 out there is no lounge at terminal 2 for jet air this is my last time to travel with jet air

  2. Access to the GVK Lounge at Bombay T2 has been discontinued for JP Gold and Plat due to outstanding dues of INR 15 crores to be paid by Jet to TFS who runs the lounge. Once that payment is cleared the lounge access will resume.

Lounge access is available at all other domestic airports for JP Gold and Plat for the time being

  3. Largely academic. Most Jet Plats or Golds wud be holders of Diners or equivalent. So can get access through these cards.

    Regards

  4. I just got a message from Jet that lounge access is temporarily discontinued. It’s really sad to note this. From Mumbai Jet is the only good option as Vistara didn’t have any good connectivity. This is going to affect a lot of privileged customers as well as lounge operators who have invested huge amount. This needs to get resolved soonest.

  5. I’ll be one of the most affected persons. Used to stay overnight there for almost 7 hours (using transit – 5 hours plus card swiping – 3 hours)

  6. Oh that’s a sad news. I just made it to the lounge on Monday evening as I do not travel to Mumbai often, so lucky me.

Hope it gets sorted out quickly.

  7. Seems they are not able to clear the dues. I cancelled a ticket almost 10 days back. In past, iv received refunds in 2-3 days but this time, despite 3 calls, they haven’t even issued a refund receipt
