Jet Airways situation is getting tense hour by hour. Lenders are not pumping in emergency funding to keep the airline afloat until the bidding process is successful. Lessors are applying for more aircraft to be de-registered day by day. The list has already swelled to 28 aircraft including 2 A330-300 already de-registered and another 19 aircraft awaiting de-registration. Air France, KLM and Delta have stopped codesharing with Jet Airways and vice-versa.

Jet Airways has/had 21 codeshare partners, but not all flew to India. Effective immediately, Jet Airways has removed codeshare flights of Korean Air, Kenya Airways, ANA and China Eastern.

Jet Airways used to codeshare on ANA flights to Tokyo from Mumbai and Delhi, Korean Airways flights on Delhi – Seoul and Mumbai – Seoul route, China Eastern’s flights on Delhi – Shanghai route and Kenya Airways on Mumbai – Nairobi route.

They were great routes for earning JP miles, but sadly they aren’t bookable now. Also, Jet Airways isn’t accepting bookings for codeshares with Qantas, FlyNas, Fiji Air and so-on since Jet Airways have closed down bookings for flights to Far-East and Middle-East. Some codeshares like those with Qantas, Fiji Airways and so-on were for flights to and from destinations like Singapore.

However, codeshare flights operated by Bangkok Airways, Malaysia Airlines, Air Seychelles and Etihad can still be booked. Jet Airways is selling all Etihad operated flights to Europe, USA, Australia and so-on.

Since Jet Airways is still accepting forward bookings for flights to London, hence codeshare flights to Canada from London operated by Air Canada are still bookable. But since Jet Airways has already handed over the slots to Etihad, be cautious before booking those flights.

Airlines are still honouring tickets issued earlier by Jet Airways for their passengers on other airlines’ codeshare flights for now.
