InterContinental Dublin : First Impressions in 10 pictures

Hello from Dublin! Ajay & I are thoroughly enjoying the sunshine but more so the warm hospitality of Irish people. This trip is was mainly planned to watch U2 perform in their home town. We tacked on a few days in London at the Marriott Park Lane hotel and the Hyatt Regency Churchill.

In Ireland, we checked into the InterContinental Dublin (formerly the Four Seasons). We arrived at the hotel late after noon and had booked the room using our InterContinental Ambassador free weekend night certificate. It was a bargain for a sold-out weekend.

From the moment we entered the hotel, the entire premise exuberated luxury. The area was furnished in Red, Blue and Gold and gives the entire place a very royal feel.

At check-in we we were advised that the room allocated to us was still getting prepared. In the meanwhile we could we could make ourselves comfortable in the Lobby Lounge and have a drink. We don’t mind.

After enjoying a glass of a Prosecco in the Lobby Lounge that overlooked the hotel’s private garden, the duty manager met us and handed us over the keys to our room.

It turned out, we were going to be staying at the Executive Suite after all. Wow!

Our room was located on the 4th floor of the hotel. The newly renovated suite was beautiful and done up in a rich purple & gold furnishings. The window from the living room had views of the hotel’s gardens and we could see the Dublin mountains over the horizon.

The separate living  room area had a sofa, a work desk, an easy chair by the window and a large flatscreen  TV. There was a Nespresso machine and a variety of tea & coffees to choose from. The bedroom in itself was luxurious with a king size bed.

There was a large walk-in closet. The bathroom was done up in white marble and had a bath tub to soak in along with a separate shower. The bathroom amenities placed are L’Occitane,  a French brand and a personal favorite of mine.

The hotel has a lovely indoor heated pool. A spa with Jacuzzi, Sauna & Steam room. If only we had the energy …

There is also the Whiskey Bar located next to the Lobby Lounge which housed the world’s largest collection of Irish whiskey. They have over a 100 different Whiskey brands with 69 Irish Whiskeys.

All in all, this was one stunning hotel and one of the most beautiful InterContinental properties we have stayed in. Of course, I will write a full review of our stay in the days to come.

Have you stayed at the InterContinental in Dublin? How was your stay experience?

Comments

  1. While I am a big fan of InterContinental properties in Europe, isn’t this one a bit out of the way of downtown?

    • @Henry, it is out of the way for downtown, but it perhaps adds to the charm of being there. It is quiet around there.
