HDFC Bank has been running a new promotion for the past couple of days for their Credit and Debit Card customers using their SmartBuy portal. Today, August 14, is the last day for this promotion. HDFC Bank is offering a 10% discount on various categories, including travel, shopping and instant vouchers, over and above their up to 33% back as points.

How to get these discounts?

For flights and hotels, here is how

• Go to HDFC Bank SmartBuy page Flights / Hotel Section
• Select your flights/hotel. Compare Prices and select across merchant. Enter details & Proceed to Payment
• Use HDFC bank Credit Card / Debit Card to avail the offer
• Apply code ‘SAFETRAVEL’ to avail Instant Discount
• Offer not applicable on Hotel via HDFC Mobile Banking App and PayZapp
• There are many excluded hotels, you can check here.

For bus and trains, here is how

• Go to HDFC Bank SmartBuy page Bus / Rail Section.
• Select your Bus / Train. Enter details & Proceed to Payment.
• Use HDFC bank Credit Card / Debit Card to avail the offer.
• Apply code ‘SAFETRAVEL’ to avail Instant Discount

To buy an Instant Voucher at over 150 stores offline and online:

• Go to HDFC Bank SmartBuy page instant Vouchers Section
• Select your desired voucher.
• Enter details & Proceed to Payment
• Use HDFC bank Credit Card / Debit Card to avail the offer
• Apply code ‘SBSAVE’ to avail instant Discount
• Promo code applicable once per user

Amazon & Flipkart Exclusive Store

• Go to HDFC Bank SmartBuy and select Amazon / Flipkart Tab
• Enter Mobile number & Last four digit card number with which you would want to make the payment
• Search for your product and add to the cart. Products which are already placed in the cart (even before visiting SmartBuy) will not be considered
• Use HDFC bank Credit Card / Debit Card to avail the offer
• SmartBuy voucher will be worth 10% of the transaction value. Max voucher value can be Rs.500.
• SmartBuy Vouchers shall be sent to you over SMS / Emailers within 90 days post the last date of transaction month.
• Customers shall get one SmartBuy Voucher each on Flipkart or Amazon per Card basis eligibility.
• SmartBuy Vouchers are applicable only on SmartBuy flights, hotels, trains & bus bookings.
• The voucher will be valid for one year from the time shared with the customers.

Where is the value?

Remember, these discounts are over and above the regular SmartBuy promotion, which has been extended through August 2020 as well. On a typical day, you can get at best 33% as cashback with the Infinia and the Diners Black Credit Cards. Since Amazon and Flipkart and Bigbasket are the most used of the lot, it would just be an opportunity to get 10X when buying their vouchers and storing them for later use. This ways, you get 33% back as points, and another 10% cash discount up to a max purchase of INR 5000.

Bottomline

This is an excellent promotion for those who have the top-end HDFC Bank Credit cards, and an opportunity to save up to 44% with these cards.
