HDFC Bank Diners Club 10x partners through 2017

The question I’ve been asked a lot over the past month has been about HDFC Bank Diner Club’s new 10x Partners. As a recap for those who don’t know yet, HDFC Bank issued Diners Club credit cards offer partners where you practically get one-third of your cash spent back as points. Here is how you get more points back than ever before:

  • Rewardz: Regular spend earns 3 points/INR 150; 10x partners spend earns 30 points/INR 150
  • Premium: Regular spend earns 4 points/INR 150; 10x partners spend earns 40 points/INR 150
  • Black: Regular spend earns 5 points/INR 150; 10x partners spend earns 50 points/INR 150

Since I have the Black variant, that means, I can book travel tickets on a 10X partner, and for every 150 INR I spend, I get 50 points back. That is practically a 33% cashback since the points for Black are 1 point = 1 INR. However, they are worth much more when you transfer them to a partner airline such as American Airlines AAdvantage or a hotel partner such as Hyatt Gold Passport. Check my redemption story at Hyatt.

Moving on, last year, HDFC Bank Diners Club offered 10x points for a 6 month period, and then in April 2016, renewed the list for a month. People were worried about what next? So, last night, HDFC Bank updated the list of 10x partners:

This list of partners is valid from May 1, 2016 through April 30, 2017, which is the first time the Bank has given a year long list of partners.

Like I’ve always said, they have a good list of partners for the time being, only if they could make redemption easier now.

What do you think guys about the new list of partners from HDFC Diners Club? I am pretty excited that I can continue to get an outsized value from this card going forward.

  1. Hi Ajay,

Can you please confirm if 10x reward points are also valid if I purchase a holiday package from Yatra?

    Regards,
    Himanshu

  2. hi ajay, looks like it may be time to start redeeming the points of this program, there seems to be too many changes with the program, what is your opinion.

  3. this offer program is not working on cleartrip, i booked but cleartrip website shows this offer as expired, something is wrong with this offer of diners….

  4. Hi Ajay, They have now changed the T&C on the Diner’s Club 10x offer. Now the offer seems to be valid only till 31st May 2016. This is a tad surprising, as earlier they had extended the validity till April 2017.

  5. It took me atleast 2 months to get HDFC Diners black card. It’s really difficult to get work done via HDFC. My RM got form signed atleast 3 times.

TIP: Buy Woohoo gift vouchers from Snapdeal and you can use them to get gift vouchers of most of the brands. So in short you would be getting 33% cashback on almost everything.

  6. Which do you think is a better card to sign up for now, between the HDFC Diner’s Black and the HDFC JetPrivilege Diners?

    • @Salman, it depends on your needs. If you need Jet Airways tierpoints or JPMiles, the HDFC JP card is for you. Else, if you travel on many carriers, the Diners Black is for you.

  7. Getting this card seems a challenge. I registered my details on website to upgrade my HDFC Jet card. Someone called me and told that an executive will be visiting my place to get the form signed. 1 month and nobody has turned up. Called up the call centre and I was told to visit branch.

The seems even worse than ICICI.

    • Same story here. Applied online, this card was pre-approved, got a few calls and then nothing.

      Wish citi had this card.
