HDFC Bank rolling out credit card limit enhancements on most cards. Check your account

HDFC Bank Credit Cards seems to have launched into 2022 on a high for many of its credit card customers. While in 2021, the bank had surprised customers with upgrades to the Infinia and Diners Black Credit Cards, this year, they have reached out to customers with the opportunity to hike up their credit limits to start the new year with a bang.

HDFC Bank Credit Limit Enhancement

HDFC Bank has sent out emails to many customers over the past week offering them a pre-approved enhancement on their credit limit. You should check your email account to see if you received this message from the bank or not.

  1. You are pre-approved for an upgrade from Regalia Credit Card to Millennia Credit Card.

Is this really an upgrade? Is Milennia card better than Regalia?

  2. Hi Ajay, I have been bombarded with such emails for the last one year. They also lured me with gift voucher to enhance my credit limit. I am not sure if I want to increase the limit as the current limit is more than enough for current needs and have never even reached 75% of that ever. So question is why should you increase ur limit when the current limit is more than enough? Doesn’t higher limit expose to higher liability incase of fraud? Just missing the point here. Thanks!

    • Credit utilisation is one of the parameter which impacts your credit score. Generally it should be as low as possible(~20%). Credit utilisation score in layman language is sum of your spends on all cards divided by sum of credit limit on all your cards. The other reason why you should take credit limit enhancements is because then you become eligible for more premium cards which have higher credit limit requirements. Lastly regarding your concerns over fraud chances. One can easily set limits on both domestic & international transactions through netbanking. Hope this helps

  3. I’m stuck with 15L limit on my Infinia for the last 20-22 months.
Recently my wife and mother entered in the HDFC credit card ecosystem, none of us got any offer, nothing on netbanking as well.
