Emirates unveils new “no nonsense” safety video

Emirates unveiled a new safety video yesterday. It breaks with the current trend of making entertaining safety videos and, in fact, pokes fun at them.

Airlines have recently moved on to using safety videos as marketing efforts. Some of the ones over the years have included yoga, dance, actors and whatnot. Here are some of the instances:

The premise has been that most flyers need to pay more attention to safety videos, so airlines need to do something different to catch their attention and get them to watch them.

Emirates has now broken away from this trend, which has been built up over the years. The new Emirates safety video, published yesterday and soon to be rolled out, sticks to the basics and takes a jab at the current trend.

Emirates goes,

This is your no-nonsense safety video. We do not have dancers breaking into song, characters from movies, or celebrities trying to be funny, I’m afraid.

The video sticks to the basics and delivers the message about safety instructions in an easy-to-understand manner; hence, I like them for returning to the basics.

Bottomline

Emirates has unveiled a new safety video, and instead of a song and dance, it is back to basics. It presents the safety instructions in an easy-to-understand manner, departing from the current trend of airlines using their safety videos as an extension of their marketing efforts.

What do you think of Emirates’ new safety video?
