British Airways Executive Club no longer a transfer partner for HDFC Bank Diners Club Cards?

HDFC Bank credit cards usually have very few transfer partners, and those too at the top-end cards only. There are literally no differentiating partners for them as the focus is on the money redemptions with these cards and not with transfer partners, especially since HDFC Bank Diners Club broke away from the entire repertoire of partners that Diners Club brought in from the USA. Diners Club Avios

HDFC Bank’s Diners Club cards had added a new transfer partner in British Airways back in 2017 and only offered it to their Black Card customers to start with then. The Diners Club transfer partnership was also offered to the Privilege and the ClubMiles variant later on. I have personally been able to make good use of this partnership, transferring HDFC Bank points to Avios a few times.

Diners Club Avios Transfer Partnership is offline now.

However, reader Mahesh Singhal alerted me that he was no longer able to see the option to convert points to Avios any longer, so yesterday I tried to initiate a transfer myself. Much to my surprise, the option to transfer HDFC Bank Credit Card points to Avios is gone.

Amusingly, the HDFC Bank Diners Club website continues to market the cards as if they have the option to transfer to British Airways Avios as well as of today.

Now, this could mean either that HDFC Bank forgot to update the websites and tell us about the closure of this feature, or this is just a temporary glitch and will be resolved soon. Or it could also be that the contract between HDFC Bank and British Airways expired. Does anyone have a timeline on when did they transfer their points to Avios the last time around?

Bottomline

HDFC Bank’s Diners Club product line, which is perhaps one of the only products beyond Amex and Citi to provide the opportunity to transfer points to British Airways Executive Club is no longer available.

What do you make out of this new development about the HDFC Bank Diners Club Avios partnership?

  1. Last transferred in August end. Hope this is temporary. Avios is a good option.

Also on british airways site, hdfc is still mentioned along with amex in Lifestyle and Finance category of collecting avios.

  2. Not good news if the change is permanent, not many options for airline points transfer , and as you said BA was a very good option .

Once that Emirates card launches , they will probably add Skywards as a transfer partner, although BA should have also remained.

  3. which are the transfer partners for infinia ?
if there are any can you link me where to register to transfer for infinia . thanks
