Boeing launches the 737 MAX 10 in a quiet employee ceremony

Boeing, which has been picking up the pieces from the global grounding of the 737 MAX aircraft after two aircraft crashed, one in late 2018 and one early 2019, has moved forward with the unveiling of the first 737 MAX 10 aircraft at the company’s Renton, Washington factory.

MAX10 Reveal – November 22, 2019

The 737 MAX 10, the largest variant of the MAX family, can seat up to 230 passengers and offers the lowest seat-mile cost of any single-aisle airplane ever produced. The airplane will now undergo system checks, and the engine runs before first flight next year.

While back in the day, airplane launches were done with much fanfare, in this case, Boeing, given the events of the past months has scaled down product reveals due to the accidents. The Boeing 777X first reveal was also similarly scaled down to an employee reveal, given it was right after the second incident with the Boeing 737 MAX 8.

The 737 MAX 10 currently has more than 550 orders and commitments from more than 20 customers around the globe, including United, FlyDubai, Lion air and VietJetAir. It is the largest variant of the MAX family, which can seat up to 230 passengers and can fly up to 3300 nm.

Boeing intends to make first flight with this aircraft next year, however, that is subject to the grounding of the 737 MAX aircraft being lifted.
