Indian Fare Sale update: Air India joins in the 50% off sale

Yesterday I wrote extensively about how it was a good opportunity for you all to pick up very cheap flights 30 days out (at 50% off), on SpiceJet, Indigo and GoAir. All these fares are available on Online Travel Agents such as Yatra.com, MakeMyTrip.com and GoIbibo.com as well. There was also speculation that Air India would join into this sale, however, nothing had been heard about it so far. Last night I heard the Air India tickets were on sale from midnight of 22 Jan 2014 onwards, and available on Air India’s website, and also the travel websites mentioned above. You can also call your neighbourhood travel agent for these fares. Have a look here at Mumbai Delhi fares from…

Delta offering $830 fares from Boston to Mumbai R.T.

I usually do not put the individual route fare sales on this blog, but this one was too good to pass up, especially since this blog tries to focus on India-related aviation deals as well. Delta has a Boston-Amsterdam-Mumbai roundtrip fare, and also a Boston-Paris-Mumbai roundtrip fare which is going in the $830-$870 range, which is way less than the usual fare on this route which goes at $1100 upwards. Here is a screenshot of fares from the Matrix website. Various dates are available for various number of nights.                 As per The Flight Deal website, which first posted the deal, says the deal is valid for travel from March 10th – May…

Indian Fare Sale: Indigo, SpiceJet & GoAir offering 50% off on all fares

This morning, I wrote about the 50% off SpiceJet Fare Sale. Then I wrote about the reaction from Indigo, which is now matching the sale by offering a 50% off on all their own routes. I was wondering when the other airlines were going to come into the mix. Now, we have GoAir entering the fray and offering 50% off fares for travel till April 15, 2014 as well. Air India has issued a press release about a sale, but they have not reduced the fares yet. As of this evening, Go Air is showing a big drop in fares, matching Indigo & SpiceJet on the various sectors they operate on. The same fares are also available on the various…

Indigo matches SpiceJet 50% off sale

This morning I put out a post which discussed a 50% off sale which SpiceJet just put out today and is valid for the next 3 days. Not to be left out, Indigo has dropped their fares as well for the same dates as well as routes as SpiceJet as well as some more maybe. If you look at the Indigo website, you’d find a lot of sale tags on those flights. Take a look at this random screenshot I just took for Mumbai – Kochi – Mumbai: Also, if you use Online Travel Agents such as Yatra.com, MakeMyTrip.com or GoIbibo.com, you’d be able to make this work by comparing both the airlines as well, for best timings. [These are…

SpiceJet 50% off sale till 23 Jan 2014

It has almost become an annual event. A SpiceJet fare sale almost always kicks in the lean season, and last year they had two of them in Q1 2013. Just this morning, SpiceJet has announced the details of a 50% off Fare Sale they have put out on all direct routes in the country for travel 30 days out. The sale is valid for travel till April 15, 2014 on direct flights. Connecting and Via flights don’t count. [Someone pointed out to me the sale is also for their international routes however I could not verify this.] Some of the fares they have put out look very very tempting, and are infact 50% off the regular fares on those routes.…

Why you should sign-up for Uber this weekend?

Uber has been offering a pretty generous double referral for new signups for the past ten days or so, and will continue to do so till January 20, 2014. If you haven’t tried out their services yet, and you live in one of the 26 cities they operate in right now, maybe this is a good time to at least sign up, because you would get yourself double the referral amounts in your Uber account, from what is usually offered. For instance, a new account in the USA will be credited with $20, in UAE with AED80, in India with INR 600, in Hong Kong with HKD 140 and so on, which is double from the usual amounts. And you…

SpiceJet rejigs network, withdraws from Guangzhou and goes to Hong Kong

Spicejet is trying to get it right, one more time. However, it’s strategy to open new stations and routes which haven’t been flown before from India, is clearly not working. For instance, Pondicherry, which was opened up a year ago, is now being closed. The airline announced the following route changes as a part of its summer schedule: Withdraw Pune – Bangkok Withdraw Varanasi – Sharjah Withdraw Delhi – Guangzhou Pondicherry is being closed down Trichy is being closed down Hong Kong & Dhaka will be the new stations in the network (Details not available yet) So, for an airline which has been trying to get it right for a few years, this is one more time they are trying…

Previewing Ola Luxury Mumbai

Like I wrote a few days back, Ola Cabs recently started to offer a Limo service in Mumbai, giving themselves a headstart over Uber which will be launching in Mumbai soon as well. I wanted to try out the services, however, had a tough time getting my hands on one of their few cars which are on the road right now. Reason, I figured was most of these cars are positioned in suburban Mumbai, and I live in South Mumbai. So, my first experience with them only happened past Saturday, when I could finally snap one of their cars which might have made a ride into South Mumbai. You can only book via the app which is available for iPhones…
