Delhi Airport’s Terminal 3 is clearly the new hotbed of action for airlines. The benefit of a new terminal are clearly showing. While Indian carriers are still using contract lounges at their hub airports, oneworld airlines were depending on the Kingfisher First lounge, which is now closed.
Emirates was the first off the mark, opening an exclusive lounge in Delhi. News now is that over the past one month, both Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines have opened up new lounges in Delhi T3 on the international side.
Lufthansa opened up a lounge in Delhi T3 yesterday, a week after putting their second Boeing 747-8i into service there. This is Lufthansa’s first lounge in Asia designed according to the new global design guidelines of the airline, and seats 130 travellers. This lounge will be at the Level 3 of Delhi’s Terminal 3.
Lufthansa’s new lounge concept includes enhanced design elements like poster walls and comforting accessories. The walls are designed with wing-view motives to give guests a feeling of sitting inside an aircraft.
The Lufthansa Lounge in Delhi is for use by First and Business class ticket holders of Lufthansa, SWISS and Austrian Airlines, HON, Senator and Frequent Traveller cardholders from the Miles & More programme, as well as Star Alliance Gold members.
But hang on, you’re going to be spoilt for choice now. Around the same time, Singapore Airlines was also working on its own Silver Kris Lounge in Delhi T3 and their new lounge is also open since 1 August 2012. Singapore Airlines First and Business Class passengers, PPS Club, KrisFlyer Elite Gold members & Star Alliance Gold Members can enjoy the SilverKris Lounge at the Indira Gandhi International Airport Terminal 3 (International Wing, Level 3).
This will be the first SilverKris lounge in India, and has the same marble hues as SQ lounges globally do. The lounge will be open 4 hours prior to departure of SQ flights from Delhi (SQ405 and SQ407).
I’ll leave you with some pictures, and I hope to be able to access these lounges sometime soon, if I plan an international trip via Delhi on the Star Alliance.
