Nepal Diaries: 9W 265 Kathmandu – Mumbai, Jet Airways, B737

For our departure flight from Kathmandu, we arrived at the Tribhuvan International Airport well in time 3 hours before departure. Right at the entrance to the terminal, all our bags were scanned and we were hand frisked in a very casual manner. I did not notice any metal detectors and honestly did not understand the idea behind frisking passengers at this point.

The departure terminal is quite small and easy to manoeuvre around. Like I have already mentioned before that a large part of the terminal is under re-construction.  It took us about 10 minutes to complete check-in after which we proceeded to immigration and then the lounge.

We proceeded to the boarding gates only once the flight departure was announced. The security hold area at the departures is small (more like a room) and under restoration with limited seating capacity. At the bus gates we were advised that 3 out of the 5 of us had been upgraded. We passed along the upgrades to the parents and happily decided to sit in economy. It was a short 2 hour or so flight, so it did not really matter.

The return flight to Mumbai was full and I noticed that majority of passengers on board, appeared to be connecting on Etihad to the Middle East from Mumbai. The only difference from the flight inbound being that apart from beer, whiskey was being served, however from glasses and not the cart. This could probably be to discourage seconds.

Here is the Business class service. Everyone reported back that the Business Class appetizers on this flight were pretty sorry, while the rest of the food was okay.

The meal consisted of standard 9W lunch. Not real great but not bad as well this time around.

The IFE had to be rebooted several times before it worked fine, so it was not good to be able to watch a full movie, however, we did catch a couple of episodes of some TV series.

Overall the return flight was smooth and uneventful, though I was happy that there were no delays to the service and we landed in Mumbai on time.
