The White House has announced a plan to end the requirement for travellers arriving in the United States to be vaccinated against Covid-19 effective May 11, 2023.

White House lifts vaccine requirement for travel to the US.

The White House announced a while ago that the US would no longer consider Covid-19 a public health emergency as of May 12, 2023. Now, there is a follow-up announcement about the move to remove Covid-19 vaccination as a requirement to travel to the US.

Back in 2020, country-specific restrictions were placed for arriving in the US. In 2021, the US administration replaced the ban with a vaccine requirement for foreign visitors. A test-and-travel requirement was also introduced, which was subsequently repealed in 2022. Now the vaccination requirement to arrive in the US is also going away.

Per the announcement made by the White House,

We are announcing that the Administration will end the COVID-19 vaccine requirements for Federal employees, Federal contractors, and international air travelers at the end of the day on May 11, the same day that the COVID-19 public health emergency ends.

Bottomline

As of May 12, 2023, foreign visitors to the United States will no longer need to provide proof of vaccination to enter the US. The change will be implemented on the same day when coronavirus is not considered a public health emergency in the United States.
