Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles now offers a Family Club

I recently wrote about the status match opportunity for Star Alliance Gold & BMI that was being offered by Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles. Turkish has now upped the game some more and is offering a Family Club sort of program where miles from the entire household can be credited to the account of one family member (above 25 years of age) and the family will receive their status miles in their own accounts. This facility has been made available to all their status holding members (TK Classic Plus/Elite/Elite Plus).

As per the official release:

Family membership consists of your spouse and single children under the age of 25. As an Classic Plus/Elite or Elite Plus card holder, you can pool their miles with those of yours in your own account under “family miles”. Please keep in mind that your family members’ miles collected on Turkish Airlies’ flights and also Star Alliance member Airline flights and all miles collected from our partners will be credited to your account. Each family member will have his/her own account. Any activities family members participate in will be credited as bonus miles in actual owner of the family membership account and family members flight activities will be credited to their own accounts as status miles for upgrading to a higher membership level.

Now, this seems to be a nice addition to the program where you can actually get to receive a good award redemption rather than crediting some miles in this account only to retain your membership at Gold over the years. While the definition of family is limited, I hope they will look at broadening this over a period of time.
