Citibank PremierMiles Credit Card is easily my go-to credit card, purely because of the flexibility it offers in terms of earning mileage for air travel (10 PremierMiles/ INR 100) and non-air travel related purchases (4 PremierMiles/INR 100). PremierMiles add up easily, and never expire. Not to forget, you have promotions like double miles every now and then. You can transfer them to 10 different airline or hotel loyalty programs, or use them to book tickets directly at www.premiermiles.co.in by redeeming them for INR 0.5 value per PremierMile spent. You can read my review here, from May 2012. You also get a limited number of trips to the lounge every quarter for domestic Indian Airports. Anyhow, Citibank has now taken the…

Mileage Earning Credit Cards in India: 2014 comparison
Last year, I managed to put together a worksheet where I wanted to be able to help you all compare the various mileage earning credit cards in India, as per your spend patterns. Since then, a lot has changed in terms of products out there in the market. Some of these included the launch of the SBI/AI credit card, and the scaling down of mileage earning on ICICI Bank Jet Airways credit cards. I’m now happy to put out version 2 of the worksheet, which you should be able to access via Google Sheets. Like always, here is a quick primer on how this works with a few simple inputs: Step 1: You’d need to select if you are Jet…
20% bonus on Citibank miles conversion to Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles
One good part about earning miles neutrally is the choice of transfer partners offered, and the bonuses they run sometimes. For the past two years, we have seen transfer bonuses from Etihad & British Airways on Citibank products, and Jet Airways as well, for Citibank credit cards ex-PremierMiles. Just yesterday, Citibank and Singapore Airlines have begin to offer a 20% bonus on conversion of Citibank points/miles to your Singapore KrisFlyer frequent flyer account. Now while I won’t be able to post a full review of the KrisFlyer program at this moment, but like most programs in Asia, they charge fuel surcharges, and lots of them. However, the Singapore Airlines product is usually top notch, and you get access to a…
American Express offering 30,000 JPMiles signup bonus for Jet Airways co-branded credit card
Last year, when American Express and Jet Airways launched their co-branded Jet-Airways American Express Credit Card, they offered a special sign-up bonus of 10,000 JPMiles over and above the welcome gift of 20,000 JPMiles which is the standard on-going offer. However, the sign-up bonus was only available to those who paid the INR 10,000 + taxes as first year fees, hence, I chose to pay the fee in spite of being a JetPrivilege Platinum member and eligible for the credit card free of cost. I was getting miles at INR 0.33 per JPmile, and it was hard to beat that value. On my last Jet Airways flight earlier this week, I saw flyers around the cabin talking about the special…
The SBI Air India Signature Card adds an upgrade voucher!
When I first started out to review the SBI Air India Signature Card, I was basing my review on the information that was provided by SBI Cards in this respect. Now, just like all other new products, I’ve had my fair share of sparring with SBI Cards as well, but yesterday, I got third time lucky and finally managed to submit my application to SBI Cards after two time-wasting attempts by them before. As I was trying to find more information on this credit card, I came across this on the Air India website: Premium privileges include 1 complementary domestic upgrade voucher Complementary lounge access (emphasis, mine) This is not information that was put out by the credit card company.…
My botched up experience applying for the SBI AI Card
After launching a good product, it seems like SBI Cards is running their SBI Air India card just the same way like ICICI Bank did with the Jet ICICI Cards last year. I placed a request for an appointment for the card in the first couple of days it launched. I never heard back from the SBI Card team for an appointment till the first 10 days or so. And then, I started getting all sorts of calls, emails and messages on my own post, with SBI Cards asking me for information. I replied to them on email, on FlyerTalk as well. No one bothered to respond. And then, I messaged a friend who worked for their company. I was…

Bonus miles on the ICICI Bank Jet Airways Visa credit cards for sign-up and use
ICICI Bank and Jet Airways, when they launched their co-branded cards last year, had a huge focus on pushing the American Express versions, and they were (still are), offering upto 9 JP Miles for regular spend. This is a promotional offer limited till October 2013. ICICI Bank, a couple of days back, however, launched a new promotion, where there is a higher sign-on bonus for the Visa version of their credit cards, in case you sign up till October 31, 2013. Here is how it works: Sapphiro (highest): 15,000 JP Miles for sign-on instead of 10,000 JP Miles. Also, 8 JP Miles/INR 100 spend till October 2013, and a free economy ticket code on Jet Airways domestic flights. Rubyx (medium):…
Jet Airways extends Bonus on Points to Miles conversion promo to to 30 Sep 2013
Trust Jet Airways to give me egg in my face when I am trying to help you guys sometimes. Jet Airways started a promotion to offer a 20% bonus on converting your credit card points to JP Miles in June, and it was initially scheduled to last only till July 15, 2013. Just when I posted a reminder call yesterday, I got a new mail from 9W, revising the dates. Anyhow, under the extended promotion, you can transfer your various credit card points to Jet Airways JP program right until September 30 to be eligible for a 20% bonus. I did a small test transaction shifting around some of my Payback points, and everything seems to go just fine.…
Your Jet Privilege conversion promo questions answered
Last week, I posted about Jet Airways offering a 20% bonus on converting your credit card points to Jet Privilege miles. I got a few queries about the transfer process and/or output, and I thought I’d answer them here in public interest: I got a question on Twitter, asking me if the 20% JP Miles bonus could be stacked with the 10% discount on web redemptions at Amex Membership Rewards. The answer to that, is No. The Amex Membership Rewards web redemption discount is not applicable on all categories, and Airline miles is one of them. So, you’d just transfer the applicable points currency from your credit card account and Jet Airways would credit the appropriate number of miles to…
