Singapore Airlines is all set to regain the crown of the world’s longest flight operator, five years after they gave it away by shutting down the Singapore – Newark and Singapore – Los Angeles operations (the world’s longest and second longest flights). They shut down the route given the route economics did not work for them anymore with a gas-guzzling A340-500 on the route. So they gave them back to Airbus, who instead set out to work on the A350-900ULR for them.
Now, Singapore Airlines will launch the world’s longest commercial flights in October 2018, with non-stop services between Singapore and New York using the new Airbus A350-900ULR (ultra-long-range). We have tracked Singapore Airlines A350-900ULR since the beginning and you can check out the following posts of what you can expect, which routes will it deploy on, award space and so on.
- SQ to relaunch World’s longest flight.
- SQ to (re)start Singapore-Newark flights from October 11, 2018
- SQ’s World Longest Flight Series: Los Angeles returns
- Award space availability on the World’s longest flight
Singapore Airlines has finally taken delivery of their first Airbus A350-900ULR (9V-SGA). This marks a milestone for them as they will be using the aircraft to (re)start the longest flight in the world. 6 more Airbus A350-900ULR will join Singapore Airlines fleet in the coming months.
Airbus even made a cool cliché timelapse video of the Singapore Airlines A350-900ULR.

A roundtrip Premium Economy to Newark from Mumbai on Singapore Airlines would cost INR 1.4 lakh.
Or you could travel Business class for INR 4.07 lakh.
Or you could snag an award seat for a discount using KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes.
Bottomline
D-Day is approaching for the inaugural flight, which would change long-distance travel once again for the better. Kudos to Singapore Airlines for achieving this feat.
Are you planning to travel on the World’s longest flight?
Please tell us you will review this flight!
Hour and a half from EWR-Manhattan. No
10 minutes on the air train , 20 minutes on NJ Transit or Path.
Very easy process.
It’s actually flying from Singay to Newark airport which is in NJ and not NY. In peak time it would take almost a hour and half to go from Newark airport to Manhattan.
Why would you post an article about the longest long haul flight, without including the duration of the flight*
