Reminder: Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer offering up to 15% bonus on Credit Card points transfers (Plus Easy Star Alliance Gold!)

Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer loyalty programme is out there with a new credit card transfer bonus, which might be of interest to some of you. This is one of the rare times Singapore Airlines is running a transfer bonus across the board in many countries in one go so that it would be of interest to many geographies.

Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer 15% transfer bonus

Singapore Airlines is offering up to a 15% transfer bonus when you convert your credit card reward points into KrisFlyer miles through November 22, 2021. Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer is offering a promotional bonus for transferred credit card points which hit your KrisFlyer Account by this date. To be eligible to receive the conversion bonus, you need to transfer in at least 10,000 KrisFlyer miles in one transfer transaction. This campaign has no cap on the number of miles you can transfer and the number of miles you can receive as a bonus. No registration is required.

The bonus works at two levels:

  • Earn 12% bonus miles when you convert between 10,000 to 49,999 miles in a single qualifying transaction
  • Earn 15% bonus miles when you convert 50,000 miles or more in a single qualifying transaction.

In specific geographies such as Hong Kong and Indonesia, the bonus would go 20% more miles. To convert your Credit Card points to miles, you need to have a simple three-step process:

  • Log in to your bank rewards account.
  • Convert your bank reward points to KrisFlyer miles, with a minimum of 10,000 KrisFlyer miles in a single transaction to qualify for bonus miles.
  • Receive 12% or 15% more miles on your base KrisFlyer miles converted in your KrisFlyer account.

For India, the following transferable points programmes are eligible:

  • American Express Membership Rewards (2 MR: 1 KF Mile, so transfer at least 20,000 Membership Rewards points to get the 12% bonus or 100,000 Membership Rewards points to get the 15% bonus)
  • Citibank (2 PremierMiles: 1 KF Mile/1 Prestige Point: 4 KF Miles, so transfer at least 20,000 PremierMiles or 2,500 Prestige points to get the 12% bonus or at least 100,000 PremierMiles or 12,500 Prestige Points to get the 15% bonus)
  • HDFC Bank (different ratios for different cards; 1:1 for Infinia and Diners Club Black)
  • HSBC (1 Reward Point: 1 KF Mile except for MMT co-brand card, so transfer at least 10,000 points to get the bonus)

This page lists the bonuses for all countries, so visit Singapore Airlines to know the bonus for your bank in your country.

Earn Status without Flying As well

Simultaneously, Singapore Airlines has been running another promotion. They are offering Singapore Airlines Gold status to anyone who brings in 250,000 Miles in their KrisFlyer Account by converting points from credit cards. Singapore Airlines has clarified that they will count the bonus miles transferred to qualify for the promotion to earn status without flying.

  • KrisFlyer Silver, which usually requires 25,000 Elite Miles (the equivalent of 125,000 miles converted in), will now require you to convert in 108,700 miles (27175 Citi Prestige Points/108,700 HDFC Infinia/Diners Club Black Points and so on)
  • KrisFlyer Gold, which usually requires 50,000 Elite Miles (the equivalent of 250,000 miles converted in), will now require you to convert in 217,400 miles (54,350 Citi Prestige Points/217,400 HDFC Infinia/Diners Club Black Points and so on)

Many people have got back to me stating that they don’t see the elite credits for the 15% bonus hitting their account immediately. The answer to this is stated in the FAQs, which say that for the elite credits on bonus miles credited, they will be credited “3 weeks after the campaign period, i.e. by December 14, 2021, or such other date as SIA may prescribe from time to time.”

Should you transfer points to KrisFlyer at this time?

The answer is yes, and no. Singapore Airlines does not usually offer transfer bonuses of their own, so after a long while, they have offered a transfer bonus from credit cards. The more important reason is, the premium cabin inventory from Singapore Airlines is restricted usually to KrisFlyer members only, so tough luck with those who want to book it via other programmes. A third one is that you can use all the bonus points for a Star Alliance redemption.

On the other hand, Singapore Airlines is currently vastly restricted in its operations. That means hardly any redemption opportunity on SQ itself for the time being. However, that has not stopped an enthusiastic reader from booking a round-the-world trip.

Bottomline

Singapore Airlines is offering a 12%-15% credit card transfer bonus at the moment for transferring points from credit card programmes to their KrisFlyer programme. Admittedly this is a huge income stream for SQ, and there might have been a reduction in transfers to KF, so they want to remind everyone about their option to transfer to their programme at the moment. You have the opportunity to move points and make sure they hit your KrisFlyer account by November 22, 2021.

Anyone planning to transfer points and benefit from this promotion?

  1. Tier miles on the 15% Bonus miles which were expected to be posted maximum by 14th December are not posted till date and the Tier updating to Gold is not been done.

Anyone have the knowledge if we will still get the Tier miles on the Bonus miles and till when do we expect them and the status upgrades are done.

    Thanks in advance

  2. Hey Ajay if I make the transfer now then will I be eligible for bonus?
Considering that it takes 7 working days for miles to credit in KF account.

  3. I transferred 250000 points from Infinia, also credited to Krisflyer, but the status has changed to Silver. What am I missing here?

  4. If I transfer 250K points now (to get *G until Nov’22) and another 250K points in early February, do I get to extend my *G status for 2 years (Nov’23)?

  5. I just transferred 217400 hdfc infinia points into kris flyer miles . I got my 250000 after the bonus however i did not get 50k elite miles needed for gold. I got 43480 ( which is 217400 divide by 5)

Am i missing something here ?

  6. I am still sitting on the fence with this bonus offer. Should one the plunge and transfer (250K+bonus worth of points) to get the gold status or wait until Feb 2022 to decide.

    • I too was on the fence, but I just did the trf. The only issue to wait is not getting the 15% bonus post 22 nov.
I’m speculating Australia to open for tourists atleast by end 2022. Even if it doesn’t, we can use krisflyer miles on other miles and more transfers. So not much to lose i feel

      • I decided to take the plunge and transfer points to take benefit of the 15% bonus. However I decided to transfer 1000 less points than required for *G status. Will transfer the balance 1000 in Feb’22 to get *G status until Feb’23

  7. Hi Ajay,
First of all – thank you so much for this service you are doing for reward points/miles buffs like me ..
I wouldn’t have known about this had it not been for your post.

I just wanted to clarify for you and our readers that the amount of the bonus portion of the miles (12 or 15%) do NOT qualify towards the unlock status credits campaign which gives 1 elite mile every 5 miles transferred. I just did the exact 54400 Citi prestige points like u had mentioned but I’m still short of 6300 odd elite points for the gold status upgrade.

If there is a way to upload a screenshot I’m happy to do that

Thanks for your work anyway 🙂

I’m tempted to attend your masterclass as well – more so as a thank you for your service.
Let me know if there is a way I can contact you personally?

    • @Nishank, thank you for your patronage. The remaining credits should be credited “3 weeks after the end of the campaign i.e. by 14 December 2021 or such other date as SIA may prescribe from time to time” per the T&C.

      • Hmm ok let’s see …
many many thanks for your very prompt reply

right now my statement shows Specifically like this
        4 nov -krisflyer 217600 | elite – 0
        5 nov – elite 43520
        5 nov – krisflyer 32640 bonus | elite – 0

Is it ok to wait until the time u have mentioned?
Just wanted to clarify coz I don’t want to miss out on gold status since the promotion of 15% bonus ends on 22 nov and I do have Amex points which i can convert. In case they don’t appear – the elite status offer is until feb 2022 so I can still get it done but will nit get the bonus

        Thanks once again Ajay
could u also send the link for the master class payment? And what is the price after the Diwali discount

  8. Hi Ajay
I am planning to redeem some HDFC Diners Black points for KrisFlyers. At the time of HDFC’s KrisFlyers redemption it asks for FF expiry date and I don’t see it anywhere in my KrisFlyers account. I just shows my account number and name. Where can I find it from KrisFlyers Website?

  9. So, if I transfer 2,50,000 miles worth credit card points, I can not only earn the Singapore Airlines Gold Status but also 15% bonus miles (i.e. 37,500 miles). Correct me if I am wrong.

  10. How is the air India award availability through KF? Does it make sense for me to credit all my AI and UK flights to KF and gun for KF Gold, which will give the same perks while travelling on UK

    • Never seen Air India on it (maybe just my routes). I’ve got great value on KF for Turkish Airlines international flights. And there’s always plenty of Lufthansa tickets available there for most routes. Vistara points are not good value if you fly international.
