Hyatt Diamond benefits: now transferable from March 1, 2015

There are two very good reasons I try to stick with Hyatt Gold Passport as one of my primary hotel loyalty programs: The very well known 4 Diamond Suite Upgrade Certificates every year, which allow me to apply a certificate a revenue/cash+points booking on a published rate and get a confirmed suite for up to 7 nights Upgrade to the best room on arrival and complimentary club lounge access or full breakfast for up to 4 people There are of course other reasons as well, including a welcome amenity or bonus points at check in and usually good treatment by the hotels. Sometimes they do upgrade you to suites as well and pamper you. Over the past few days, however,…

A great gesture from Park Hyatt Goa

We all live in an ever changing world, right? Plans change all the time, but usually for business travellers. Once upon a time I did not make it to NYC in time because I had a flat tire on my plane. I had to spend a few days after trying to convince the hotel about the fact they should not charge for no show in that case. A few days ago, I was tossing and turning, trying to talk myself out of a Hyatt Diamond Trial. And I signed up anyways. Like a lot of my readers or followers on Twitter may have known, I’m back at the Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa later this week. These guys are…

One of the two hotel currencies that are much wanted around the world are Hyatt Gold Passport Points, and for the lack of a co-branded credit card, they are pretty hard to earn in India.  Hyatt does take to the bonus route on new hotel openings, and at this moment they are offering bonuses of 3000 Gold Passport points at two of their latest Indian hotels. The offer code for this is 3KGP and needs to be put on your reservation before you check-in. There is also the Hyatt Raipur, which has opened a…

7 Weeks to the oneworld MegaDo: Preparing for seat 33A!

Yeah, the days to rough it out in coach on the charter are coming closer 😉 In case you were wondering where did this weekly update vanish last week (week 8), well, nothing much moved so I thought it would be better to not bore you with the ramblings 😀 Some interesting developments have happened over the last week, which I think I should tell you about the OWMD. I noticed that the earlier schedule confirmed that Cathay Pacific, American Airlines and British Airways was going to participate in the program (some at JFK, some at DFW, some at LHR, and some more than once). But in a new development when AA announced their auction for 2 seats on the sold-out…

9 weeks to oneworld MegaDo: Preparing for Seat 33A

Like I blogged last week, I’m getting ready for the MegaDo trip that happens a few weeks down the road, and I wanted to plan this trip with the readers and other travel gurus on BoardingArea. First up, I must bring you up to speed with all that happened towards hitting the road 9 weeks down though, and then some questions for all of you! Booking seats on the JFK-LHR-DFW AA flights – Check Last week, Pizzaman from the core team responsible for the OWMD put out a post on Milepoint asking everyone who has interest on the optional segment in London to drop him a mail along with the class preference, and AA would get back to us. A…

10 Weeks to OneWorld MegaDo: Preparing for Seat 33A!

I just strolled over to MegaDo.com to check how was I doing on seat 33A.  I had a whale of a time booking up my seat a couple of weeks back when I had to cancel an evening out to be in front of the computer when the booking opened up. I thought I’d plan this trip with the BoardingArea peeps and readers along going forward. Here is how it looks like so far! Booking seats on the Charter AAOWMD – Check It was 10 AM morning in the US ( I forget the time zone!), and 9 PM or so in Delhi, where I was trying to book up. Add to it the pressures of visiting friends and relatives…
