Details of Repatriation Flights to India from Oman (updated May 5)

I’ve written about the massive repatriation flights project that has been initiated by the Government of India to fly out Indians from across the globe back home to India. While one would have expected this project to have started sooner, I am glad it is finally underway.

At LiveFromALounge, we will be keeping track of the flights for various countries where there are a lot of Indians trying to get back home. Flights will start operating on May 7, 2020, onwards and one of the first bunch of flights will operate out of Oman.

You can register to be considered for being put on these flights at the Embassy of India in Muscat website. Click here to register. Once you register for these flights, the Embassy will start sending you updates meant for Indians stranded in Oman, including the repatriation flights.

From May 7 onwards, flights will be operated by Air India to bring Indians in Oman back home. Boeing 737s of Air India Express will be involved in this mission. Here are the dates and times of some of these flights which we have co-related with  Air India schedules for repatriation flights sighted by LiveFromALounge:

  • May 9, 2020: Muscat to Kochi ( IX442 MCT departure at 1:00 PM/ COK arrival at 6:05 PM)
  • May 12, 2020: Muscat to Chennai ( IX644 MCT departure at 12:25 pm/ MAA arrival at 5:25 PM)

These flights will be able to accommodate 168 or so passengers. Medical screening of passengers will be done before taking the trip, and only asymptomatic passengers will be accepted on the flight. Priority will be given to older adults, workers in distress, pregnant women, urgent medical cases and those whose tourist visas have expired. These flights won’t be free. Each seat on a Muscat to Kochi/Chennai flight will be INR 14,000 (71 Omani Riyal).

More such repatriation flights will be operated, and we will update this page with details of repatriation flights to India from Oman as and when more information is made available.
