Reminder: 50% Transfer Bonus on Converting American Express Membership Rewards into Hilton Honors Reward Points

If you’ve been sitting on a stash of American Express Membership Rewards points in India, a transfer bonus to Hilton Honors might be one of the reasons to finally put them to work. Whether you’re eyeing a free night at the Conrad Bengaluru, a luxury escape at the Waldorf Astoria Maldives, or a points-efficient stay at a DoubleTree, a bonus transfer multiplier can dramatically stretch how far your points go. Here’s everything you need to know.

What Is the Amex MR to Hilton Transfer Bonus?

American Express periodically runs promotions where it offers a bonus on top of the standard transfer ratio. When you move Membership Rewards points to Hilton Honors. Instead of receiving the base number of Hilton points for every Amex MR point transferred, you will receive an additional 50% percentage for a limited window.

The usual transfer ratio for cardholders is 1 MR = 0.9 Hilton Honors Point. Layer a 50% bonus on top of that, and you’re getting 1.35 Hilton Honors points per American Express MR point. That changes the math considerably.

For transactions completed between March 23 and April 23, 2026, the 50% Hilton Honors Bonus Points will be credited within 6 weeks from April 23, 2026. For transactions completed between April 24 and May 23, 2026, the 50% Hilton Honors Bonus Points will be credited within 6 weeks from May 23, 2026.

Why Hilton Honors? The Case for Transferring

Hilton Honors is one of the more generous hotel loyalty programs for point redemptions — when used strategically. Here’s why Indian travellers in particular should pay attention:

  • Portfolio in India and the Subcontinent: Hilton’s footprint in India has expanded significantly. Properties like the Conrad Pune, Hilton Mumbai International Airport, DoubleTree by Hilton Agra, and several new openings across Tier 2 cities make domestic redemptions a real option, not just an aspirational one.
  • The Maldives Sweet Spot: The Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi and Conrad Maldives Rangali Island are perennial aspirational targets for Indian points collectors. Both properties are accessible from India with relatively short flights, and Hilton Honors redemptions at fifth-night-free rates can represent outstanding value — particularly when topped up with a transfer bonus.
  • Small Luxury Hotels of the World: SLH is a loose marketing consortium of boutique luxury properties. Hilton has a strategic partnership with Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH), allowing Hilton Honors members to book, earn, and redeem points at hundreds of independent luxury boutique hotels globally. This collaboration adds intimate, unique properties—ranging from city resorts to beach villas—to Hilton’s portfolio, providing Hilton Honors benefits like room upgrades and breakfast to eligible members. In India, the collection includes hotels such as Narendra Bhawan in Bikaner and The Suryagarh in Jaisalmer.

How to bulk up on American Express MR

American Express issues Membership Rewards points on all its cards (corporate and personal). If you want more points, consider signing up for an American Express Platinum Reserve Card or an American Express Platinum Charge Card, both of which currently offer higher signup rewards.

  • The American Express Platinum Reserve Card, with a fee of INR 10,000++ per annum, when you apply and are approved and spend INR 5,000 within 90 days of Card membership, you get 8,000 MR and another welcome gift of 11,000 MR on payment of the annual fee and on spending INR 30,000 within 90 days of Card membership.

How to Transfer Amex MR Points to Hilton Honors

The process is straightforward:

  • Log into your Amex India account at [americanexpress.com/in]
  • Navigate to Membership Rewards -> Use Points -> Transfer Points
  • Select Hilton Honors as your transfer partner (Minimum Transfer is 1000 points)
  • Enter your Hilton Honors membership number

  • Confirm the transfer
  • Transfers are generally processed within 24–72 hours, though during promotional periods, it can sometimes take a bit longer due to volume. Points transferred are non-reversible, so make sure you have a redemption in mind before you pull the trigger.

Bottomline

A transfer bonus on Amex Membership Rewards to Hilton Honors is one of the most actionable promotions for Indian cardholders at the moment. The 50% Bonus makes it a worthwhile move since Hilton Honors is a commendable network, and with the Gold Tier that comes with the American Express Platinum Card, it would become even more worthwhile.

Are you transferring from American Express Membership Rewards to Hilton Honors then?
