Qatar Airways is currently upping the game on in-flight wifi, rolling out Inmarsat’s new GX Aviation in-flight broadband service on their Boeing 777 and Airbus A350 aircraft. Oh, and they modestly call this 70 Mbps throughput service as Qatar Airways Super wifi.
Qatar Airways is the first airline in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to offer GX Aviation, the world’s first in-flight broadband solution with seamless high-speed global coverage provided through a single operator. That means no dropouts and no need to make deals with other operators.
In total, the service will be equipped on more than 130 of the airline’s Boeing 777 and Airbus A350 aircraft. The rollout follows a successful in-flight test campaign across Qatar Airways’ global flight routes.
As part of the service offering, passengers will be offered one-hour of free access to GX Aviation, after which full-flight access can be affordably purchased at $10 for the duration of the flight as per some sources.
Qatar Airways passengers can now enjoy high-speed broadband connectivity, providing rich content without restriction, whether using the internet for work or relaxation during their journey. Business travellers, in particular, will be able to maximise their ‘office in the sky’ with seamless continuity.
Bottomline
Combined with the industry-leading QSuite product, if Qatar Airways is able to deliver the high speeds they promise, and that too with a generous pricing, it will become an advantage that would be hard to ignore when making your travel plans.
Have you encountered Qatar Airways Super wifi yet? What is your experience with the Qatar Airways internet connectivity?
