Panasonic Aero to power Vistara IFE on the medium/long-haul flights

As the date of delivery for Vistara’s new aircraft start coming closer, expect to hear a lot more about the passenger experience on board these aircraft. Last week, I wrote about the power-ports that are coming up on all the new A320Neo aircraft.

The Boeing 787-9 aircraft,  which will start delivery about February 2020 (Line number 975 will be the first aircraft), will have a totally different product as compared to the current product you will see on the narrow body aircraft, even the new ones. Also, Vistara is designing their A321neos for the medium-haul experience of 5-6 hours flight and does not have any intentions of putting up just the narrow body experience like IndiGo did for these flights.

While Vistara World is now working very well for Vistara for domestic customers, and recently went app free as well, in the case of international operations, Vistara will have seat back entertainment, rather than bring-your-own-device.

The provider for these IFE systems will be Panasonic Aero, which has huge experience in offering In-flight entertainment solutions. Panasonic Aero’s X Series embedded seatback IFE will be line-fitted at the factory for these aircraft, and the same IFE system is used by many airlines such as Saudia, El Al, and on board SQ’s A380.

Vistara will also be the launch customer for Panasonic Avionics new Arc Inflight Map Platform, which Panasonic refers to as a “personalised 3D inflight map application and solution” a screen on the wall of an airplane

Vistara’s competition, Air India, uses Thales IFE solutions on both the 777 and the 787 aircraft. Panasonic had also kitted out the Jet Airways 737 and 777/A330 aircraft with their solutions earlier.
