Is Club Carlson considering a program revamp?

Club Carlson, the membership loyalty program of the Club Carlson chain of hotels, seems to be dipping its toes in the water to see if it could make a switch from a membership points and free nights oriented program to a benefits oriented program. I recently received and completed a survey from Club Carlson, where they tested this concept and while they said this may or may not fly, they even had a name in place, calling it Members Club. Now, CC has been at the forefront of big lucrative promotions and giveaways for the past two years, inflating the number of enrolments in the program, and getting the eye of the road warrior and the leisure traveller alike, in…

ITC Hotels, with its line-up of 50 hotels across India, just introduced an awesome promotion which will be valid from May 1 to September 30, 2013. Taking a leaf from the book of Hyatt, Marriott and others who’ve done a free night promotion in the past, Club ITC, which is ITC Hotels own loyalty program, is now introducing a free night promotion for every 3 paid stays at participating ITC Hotel properties across India. The Club ITC program, which is the common loyalty program for the hotel and the apparel division, asks you to either make 3 stays at the 50 participating properties (listed below), or spend Rs. 60,000 at these to earn one night stay certificates. As per the…

Have you ever been to a vegetarian washroom at a chain hotel?

I happened to notice on the stream of a follower on Twitter, who is a bigtime traveller for work, a picture he posted from the Marriott Pune. Essentially, Shakahari means Vegetarian in Hindi, and it is the name of one of the restaurants at the hotel. The hotel does not seem to realise the goof-up yet. I hope you can! I hope you could make sense of what went wrong here… Live From A Lounge is present on Facebook, Twitter & available via email, RSS.

How to help my kid brother travel better?

My kid brother flies only internationally on work trips, for most years that I remember him working. An odd trip here or there domestically. However, he is a novice to the world of miles and points and enhancing his travel experience (such as sitting in the lounge rather than waiting at the gate). So, every time he has a mandate from work to travel, I take over as what I call myself as the concierge service while he is travelling, all the way from half way around the globe away. Complimentary services include figuring out the best seats on the plane (he flies coach, sigh!), lounge access, hotel room upgrades if possible, banking the miles to the various hotels/airline programs…

Jet Airways brings fine dining to Hong Kong flights

Jet Airways seems to be doing pretty good loads on the BOM-HKG-BOM segments. I’ve flown it a couple of times in the front and the back and it always has been a full plane to the best of my knowledge. It seems the demand for the premium cabins though never got satiated and hence 9W is replacing the A330-200 it flies on this segment to a B777-300ER with effect from August 21. The B777 allows them to put more seats in the Premiere cabin (the Business class) and also introduce their very famous First Class on this route. 9w will be the only airline for the time being to offer first class on this route. The latest addition to this…
