Marriott Bonvoy, the loyalty programme of Marriott International, was born out of the merger of Starwood Preferred Guest, erstwhile Marriott Rewards and the Ritz Carlton Rewards programme over the last few years. The merged and rebranded programme, which was launched in 2019, had new status tiers, hotel categories and other changes building upon the success of Starwood Preferred Guest and Marriott Rewards.
Last year, Marriott Bonvoy tied up to sponsor the Mumbai Indians Team as the Loyalty Partner of the team, which is a partnership they used to leverage and get more people to sign up for Marriott Bonvoy in India, and offer Bonvoy members an opportunity to interact with the team members as a part of their partnership. While the original intention was to do these interactions in the flesh, with the pandemic, these have moved to virtual interactions. Here is a picture from one of the Marriott Moments I participated in last year with the Mumbai Indians team.
Marriott Bonvoy Moments
Marriott is a big supporter of sports and the arts and leverages these partnerships to bring their Marriott Bonvoy members to access to these exclusive experiences.
Marriott Bonvoy Moments include offline redemptions for members:
- Sports moments include suites and VIP experiences at professional sporting events such as F1, Football, and now Cricket.
- Culinary moments, which include dinners or cooking lessons with celebrity chefs, including Michelin Star winners
- Partner Moments, which include redemptions for VIP Access to events and venues such as Coachella, Oscars and so on.
- Entertainment Moments, which include access to music and movie events, such as concerts with VIP seats and sometimes backstage access.
Marriott Bonvoy members get exclusive access to the Mumbai Indians
Marriott Bonvoy members will be able to redeem their points for exclusive Marriott Bonvoy Moments. This year, there are two opportunities to do a 1-1 with Mumbai Indian team members on social media, and bidding with Marriott Bonvoy points is on for both.
If you are into cricket and collecting Marriott Bonvoy points, this might be for you.
What experiences are you looking forward to with Marriott Bonvoy’s Mumbai Indians Moments?
