The new combined Marriott-SPG program is out with its first major promotion. Marriott International calls it the MegaBonus: in More Places. The new promotion has some exciting things on offer. Bonus points on each stay, extra points when staying at different brands and an online game are all part of the package.

Marriott MegaBonus Promotion

In this new Marriott Megabonus promotion, members earn 2,000 Marriott Rewards points for each completed stay of two nights or more. To be eligible for this bonus, you’ll have to register for the promotion after logging into your account. Once registered, you can earn additional points on stays from September 26, 2018, through January 2019.

If you end up staying at multiple Marriott International brands, you earn another 1000 Marriott Rewards points at every brand after the first brand. So make sure you mix things up a bit while booking your hotel stays. Last, Marriott will be going live with an online game called 29 Ways to Stay on October 4, where you can win prizes including points and free night certificates.

This is an offer to consider, for folks who have multiple stays lined up in the near future. The bonus points add up real quick, which can be redeemed for some incredible properties like the JW Marriott Mussoorie. And with some clever brand diversification, you can earn up to an additional 28,000 Marriott Rewards points.

Given the restrictions in place, such as a 2-night minimum, this isn’t their shining moment, but it makes sense for them to stop spending on the promotions after they spent so much on the acquisition.

• Bonus points will be awarded to the member’s account up to six weeks after the promotion ends
• Only one room per hotel is counted toward a member’s nights or stay.

Bottomline

Marriott’s new MegaBonus promotion is an opportunity to mint Marriott Rewards points. The transition to the new program has been rocky, with issues ranging from incorrect elite status mapping to missing points. Hope Marriott is able to silence some of the voices about switching loyalties with this promotion.
