Marriott’s not very MegaBonus is here !

Marriott has announced the details of their MegaBonus promotion. This promotion is valid for stays September 15 and January 15,2017 and members will need to register by 15 December 2016.

Marriott MegaBonus

Members must choose between the two offers available :

  1. Earn 5,000 bonus points after 2 paid stays where maximum bonus is 5,000 points
  2. Earn 10,000 bonus points after every 10 paid nights up to 50,000 bonus points

Should you choose option 1, the bonus points are capped at 5,000 points which means that you can earn for a maximum of 2 paid stays . However if you choose offer 2, you can earn a maximum of 50,000 bonus points when you complete 50 nights under the promotion period.  Even though you have time until December 15, 2016 to register for this promotion, you will have to choose between 2 stays and 10 nights before any of your qualifying stays. If you foresee limited travel ahead and want to sprint to earn the bonus points quickly then offer 1 will suit you but if you have a longer commercial travel coming up and are a marathon runner then you should lean towards offer 2.

The bonus points will be credited within 3-5 working days after completing the stay. Also, members who have chosen to earn miles instead of Marriott Rewards points will not be eligible for this promotion. Do make a note that stays booked through OTAs and travel agency bookings will not be eligible to participate.

All Marriott hotel brands including the Ritz Carlton are participating under this promotion. Other Marriott brands include: JW Marriott®, EDITION®, Autograph Collection® Hotels, Renaissance® Hotels, AC Hotels by Marriott(SM), Marriott® Hotels & Resorts, Gaylord Hotels®, Courtyard by Marriott®, SpringHill Suites by Marriott®, Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott®, Residence Inn by Marriott®, TownePlace Suites by Marriott®, Moxy and Marriott Vacation Club.

Bottomline:

While this is not a lucrative enough promotion to plan travel specifically to maximise from this promotion, it’s never a bad idea to earn some extra points on your stays. Because you have to lock your choice between stays and nights much ahead, I’ll advise that you think ahead and see which is the best option for you.  Since stays only September 15 onwards will qualify for this offer there is enough time to think through and then register.
