India is a huge market for Lufthansa in terms of business travellers. Since during the holiday season, December 25 to January 1, business in North America and Europe practically closes down, business travel also slopes downwards. Lufthansa has taken this time to cancel the following flights during the holidays to be able to adjust to lower demand, and perhaps give some of their crew some time off.
Bengaluru to Frankfurt
No flights on December 25, 26, 29 & 31, 2018 and January 1, 2019.
Chennai to Frankfurt
No flights on December 25 & 31, 2018 and January 01, 10, 17, 24, & 31, 2019
New Delhi to Frankfurt
No flights on January 1, 2019.
New Delhi to Munich
No flights from December 25, 2018, to January 2, 2019.
Mumbai to Frankfurt
No flights from December 25, 2018, to January 1, 2019.
From January 2, 2019, Lufthansa will once again operate Boeing 747-400 instead of the Boeing 747-8i.
Mumbai to Munich
No flights on December 25 & 26, 2018.
Also, Air France won’t operate flights from Bengaluru to Paris on Dec 26 and 30, 2018.
Bottomline
Lufthansa has done it before in 2012. Since the cancellations are pre-determined, it won’t affect bookings of passengers. You can still connect to Frankfurt on Lufthansa’s other operational frequencies. And as for Mumbai passengers, Air India won’t take a Christmas break from its newly launched Mumbai to Frankfurt operations.
