Deal: Lufthansa Group offering deep discounted fares for families travelling October 1, 2021 onwards to August 2022

Air travel is just about picking up as the world is opening up for travellers from India again, and Lufthansa is here to take their “fair” share of the market if we want to say so. They have launched a new promotion for those who want to book with Lufthansa or their group airlines where they are offering to fly the kids at a deep discount.

As per Lufthansa, those who want to travel on Lufthansa’s group airlines, including Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa and Swiss, should be able to book a fare till September 30, 2021, where the kids between the age of 2 and 11 travel at 1% of the base fare of the ticket. The promotional offer is available for bookings between September 7 and 30, 2021 and travel between October 1 – December 15, 2021, and January 10 to August 31, 2022, only in economy class, when at least one adult and one child are travelling together.

The promotional prices are bookable via Lufthansa’s website or a travel agent. The critical thing to note is that there is only a 99% discount on the “base fare” and not on the fuel surcharge, which is part of the ticket cost, which the customer will still bear. Also, taxes are payable by the customer. I tried to book this on LH’s website, and here is what it showed up (an actual 99% discount on the tickets for the 2 to 11-year-old kid)

Bottomline

I find this an interesting offer for families planning to travel to Europe from October 2021 onwards, and if someone wants to book tickets, I can see there are substantial savings involved.  If you would like to book this fare with a travel agent, I’m happy to send you along with the details of my travel agent. Just leave a note in the comments section, and I’ll email you his details.

What do you think of the new Lufthansa promotional pricing for families?

  1. Not sure which route this but looks like the kid fare saves about 250 USD. This only makes sense if other airlines price out similarly but knowing LH you could probably book another carrier and come out cheaper paying full price.
