KLM has been operating the Delhi – Amsterdam flight for many years. KLM launched Mumbai -Amsterdam flights in 2017 after a gap of nearly 16 years. Currently, KLM operates Delhi-Amsterdam route daily and Mumbai – Amsterdam route three times a week with 787-9 aircraft. In the winter season of 2019, KLM has scheduled a mix of Boeing 777-200ER/777-300ER on the Delhi – Amsterdam route. It used to operate a Boeing 747 to Delhi. KLM’s 787-9 features Zodiac Cirrus reverse herringbone seats.
KLM is celebrating 100 years of flying this year, so is British Airways. KLM has renovated and expanded the Crown lounge at Amsterdam airport. They have ordered 8 787-10 aircraft with the first one due in June 2019. The 787-10 will have 344 seats; 38 business class seats and 306 economy seats. That’s 50 more seats than the 787-9.
KLM will debut a new Business class seat onboard the new 787-10. On the 787-10, KLM will use Jamco’s Venture seats for their business class. Venture seats have an advanced high-density lighter design and angled “herringbone”. They are designed specifically for the Dreamliner.
An interesting design feature of the Venture seat is that it works with every available inch of the Dreamliner cabin and every curve of the sidewall to maximize comfort in its 1-2-1 configuration. It will have an 18.5-inch entertainment screen and also a “Do not disturb” button on the armrest, which passengers can turn on and off at will. The middle seats will also have a movable partition.
According to Boet Kreiken, EVP Customer Experience,
KLM is delighted to be working with JAMCO on this brand-new 787-10 World Business Class seat programme. Together, we are striving to create the best possible seating, sleeping comfort, and travel environment for our business-class customers.
From March 29, 2020, KLM will deploy the 787-10 on both Mumbai and Delhi routes. 5 out 7 weekly frequencies on the Delhi – Amsterdam will feature the 787-10, while the remaining frequencies will feature the 787-9. All 3x weekly Mumbai-Amsterdam frequencies will be operated by the 787-10.
KLM will be the second airline to fly the 787-10 to India. Singapore Airlines operates the 787-10 frequency on Delhi – Singapore route already.
So far, only DEL is getting the 787-10’s. BOM has 332&333. No 787-10’s :((
moh. We are just about to book business class for our BOM SFO April /May end. Thanks for caution. Will think of some other airline return .
IIRC this winter KLM had increased AMS-BOM-AMS to 4x weekly.
Would be a good thing to see increased frequency, particularly in light of Jet’s issues.
