I seriously can’t believe my eyes that this one missed my eye. See, I am Jet Airways favourite child, so I never receive their mailers and I am supposed to figure out the entire JetPrivilege program on my own. And I’ve ignored this one for a month or so because some lazy copywriter Jet Airways employs at their office or their website office has the date written as 2011, so I just ignored!
Anyways, the good news is that Jet Airways and the credit card partners feel generous and hence a 25% bonus on transfer/conversion of points to miles from any of their 15 credit card partner’s reward points into JP miles. And there are also conversion rewards for the highest reward conversions. Here is a list of the credit card partners on whose programs the bonus is now being offered:
- American Express Membership Rewards
- Axis Bank
- BarclayCard
- Citibank
- HDFC Bank
- HSBC
- ICICI Bank
- IndusInd Bank
- Kotak Credit Cards
- Payback (earlier iMint)
- Punjab National Bank
- SBI Card
- Standard Chartered Bank
- Tata Cards
- RBS
Each conversion partner has its own conversion ratios, for instance, you get 1 JP Miles for 1.69 Amex MR points converted into JP miles. So, you must check with your bank about the conversion ratio before converting. However, to avail the 25% bonus, you need to convert a minimum of JP miles per bank. Threshholds are different and listed below:
Taking the above AMEX MR example, you’ll need to use 1690 MR points to be converted into 1000 JP miles, and that is when you get the extra 250 JPMiles in your account towards the end of May 2012.
The offer is valid from 25th Feb 2012 to 31st May 2012. And only requests for conversion made during this period will be eligible for the bonus though I cannot figure how the JP service centre will know about this. I still can’t believe I missed out on this for so long, but I am glad I found out in good time for all of you to know
There is also a free ticket offer, where Zero Base Fare tickets will be given out to some people who convert more than 100K miles to Singapore/Dubai from India, and some others who convert over 50K miles will get a Zero Base Fare ticket inside India and 5 members who convert less than 50K will get INR 250 discount vouchers.
These kind of offers from Jet Airways are not very often. The last time I remember they gave out a similar conversion offer was in 2010, and I did manage to move some 40K miles to Jet at that point of time from various credit cards.
Do take note that it takes upto 2 weeks with some of the conversion partners like HDFC Bank, so if you’d want to make use of this conversion offer, you should be placing your request by mid- May 2012 to use up the offer by end May 2012. On the contrary, Amex MR points usually show up within a day!
While finding award tickets on Jet International routes is becoming a trifle difficult these days, considering the 20% off miles on domestic routes offer, this makes for a good redemption on those credit card points you might usually end up buying some nifty wall clock for (I have, long back! when there were no good mileage offers )

Note that JP miles are effectively useless if you cannot redeem them!
I would much rather save my AmEx MRs for an opportunity on SQ or TG – or any other airline that might join the AmEx MR program…
@SuperFlyBoy, agree and disagree. Agree that it is hard to find 9w seats these days for redemptions. however, if and when you can find them, its worth it. like my 188K redemption to and fro JFK last year in 9w Premiere!.
Disagree that SQ and TG are better. SQ is stingy as well with redemptions to *A partners. However, there are enough partners on the MR program including BA, FinnAir etc.
Glad I found this post.
Will make use of this offer.
