INR 1100 cashback on domestic tickets via Ixigo/PayTM doubledip

Last year, I had discussed the cashback promotion that Ixigo used to frequently run with Jet Airways. On the same lines, Ixigo is currently running many a cashback offers with travel providers across India. One of those that is specifically interesting, is the promotion they are running with a travel OTA called This website is an OTA, but not the big boys and not a very visible one.

Ixigo Cashback

Ixigo is offering an INR 500 cashback into your Citrus Wallet per PNR booked on this website, and the money can be withdrawn into your bank account after it hits your Citrus account, without any charges. So, it is an INR 500 Discount, but it comes after you fill up a form on the Ixigo website within 7 days of booking the ticket, and authenticated by the OTA. So it takes a couple of weeks or three to get the cash in your account.

Here are the results the website threw up for a search I was doing for tickets on a random date:

You will notice the INR 500 cashback is flagged out for every one of the flights being pitched through EaseMyTrip.

PayTM cashback

Now here comes the better part. PayTM is running a joint promotion with the same website EaseMyTrip, where if you pay for any tickets worth INR 3000 or more via PayTM, you get INR 600 cashback into your wallet within the next 48 hours (usually immediately). Not just that, you also get to use the same promotion 4 times, which means you can get INR 2,400 as cashback on these tickets. The promotion is valid between February 22, 2016 to February 27, 2016. What this does mean is that you should recharge your PayTM wallet before you book your tickets.

Since the cashback hits immediately, it is very easy to use the same cashback amount as a part of the next reservation you plan to make.

Maximizing the Promotion

The best way to maximize the promotion is to book each ticket separately. That means, if there are two of you travelling together, you should book tickets separately rather than together. Then claim a cashback for each one of those separately. Alongside, you get an INR 600 cashback for every booking you make.

Sneaky Alert

I have to sensitize you to the website being used to book tickets is not exactly fully above board about the charges they levy. For instance, while using my own advice, I booked tickets last night and on one sector they charged me INR 150 as convenience fee, while on the other sector, they charged me INR 175 as the convenience fee. I’ve written to them to find out why this happened, but as of now, there is no clear mention on their website about the amount chargeable.

How many of you are going to use these double dip promotions to get a good discount on your upcoming travels?

  1. Had a very bad experience trying to withdraw money from my Citrus wallet to my bank. Would definitely not try it again for Rs 500.
