IHG offering upto 30,000 points to Book Direct [1,000 points to register!]

InterContinental Hotels Group has been offering a promotion to customers to book directly via the website or mobile site since March 2016. Under this promotion, if you book a room with the IHG chain of hotels (InterContinental®, Crowne Plaza®, Hotel Indigo®, Holiday Inn®, Holiday Inn Express®, Staybridge Suites® and Candlewood Suites® hotels and resorts) using the between March 15, 2016 to August 31, 2016 for a stay between the same dates, you will be getting extra points for your stay.


The IHG Book Direct Promotion

The current year version of the IHG Book Direct Promotion, which is available on the website here, requires registration for participation, which gets you 1,000 points just to register. Additionally, on you get the following points on your directly booked stays on a qualifying rate, adding up to a total of 30,000 points:

  • 1st Stay: 5,000 points
  • 2nd Stay: 9,000 points
  • 3rd Stay: 15,000 points

You do need to book the hotel rooms at least 7 days before making the stay to be able to qualify for the promotion.

Regional Restrictions Apply

The current promotion is applicable for IHG Rewards Club members across the world, for stays in the Asia Pacific region, Middle East and Africa. This excludes Greater China, Hong Kong, Macau & Taiwan however.

I personally have had success registering for this promotion and getting the first tranche of 1,000 points post in my account a few days ago. Now, only to book and make those three stays with IHG shortly, if those work out.



Since this is not a targetted promotion, it makes sense to sign up for it anyways. If you have stays coming up in the region of the promotion, you do get more points apart from the regular stay related points as well.

  1. Thanks Ajay. I was getting the same error as others and then I changed my address back from US to India and was able to successfully get registered.
    So this looks to be targeted for AsiaPacific/MiddleEast market.

  3. Didn’t work for me either. From the rejection page, it maybe restricted to British based accounts. IHG asked if I wanted to switch my default location to Britain.
