Hotels Open in Goa + Things to note before booking your trip

A couple of days ago, I wrote about how Goa is opening-up for the tourists. Approximately 250 hotels were reported to have applied for permission and now, we hear that 148 hotels have been granted permission to operate in Goa. Here is the list, updated till July 2, 2020.

Some of the prominent hotels which have been permitted to operate include:

  • Taj Fort Aguada Resort & Spa Goa
  • Taj Holiday Village Resort & Spa Goa
  • Country Inn And Suites By Carlson Goa Candolim
  • Goa Marriott Resort And Spa
  • ITC Grand Goa Resort And Spa
  • The Lalit Goa
  • Taj Exotica
  • Planet Hollywood
  • Leela Goa

There is a detailed SOP for operation for hotels and tourists, and you can only arrive if you are CoVid-19 negative, or you agree to test on arrival and stay in isolation (again at your hotel) till the results come out.

To arrive into Goa, only the following entry points are permitted for now:

  • By road: Dodamarg, Patradevi, Keri, Mollem, Pollem
  • By air: Dabolim International Airport
  • By train: Madgaon, Thivim, Vasco da Gama

I reached out to a few hospitality leaders in Goa who I’ve met in the past and I stayed with, and they said, that in Goa, for now, restaurants are still working on a takeaway model and no bars are open. Also no pools or gym, so it won’t be the same Goa experience one was used to pre-pandemic.

Are you planning a trip to Goa in the coming weeks, even if just to get out of the extended lockdown?

  1. Why do I still need a hotel booking after me having my own home back in goa and I am covid free .
In this case if I need to come to my own home what should I do if I don’t have an ICMR Certificate and do not want to b tested on arrival .can I still opt for 14 days quarantine on arrival pls advice

    • @Keith, this advice is for tourists. People who have a home in goa would be considered residents. I don’t think there is any way around getting tested for now. It is a fair ask.
