Hilton Honors will rollover 2020 elite nights to help members qualify faster next year

Back in March 2020, Hilton Honors became the first significant loyalty programme to take the initiative into recognising the scale of the CoronaVirus and how it would impact travel and extended elite status for their members by a whole year. This was far before any other hotel chain or airline had made up their mind. Now, the programme has announced another new initiative to keep their members in their fold and have them engaged when travel returns.

Hilton will roll over all 2020 stays to 2021 membership year.

All Hilton Honors members who stay at any Hilton-branded hotel between January 1 – December 31, 2020, will have all nights automatically roll over to next year to count towards their 2021-2023 Hilton Honors tier status when they book through Hilton.com or the Hilton Honors App. For example, a Diamond Member with 15 nights at the end of 2020 will roll over all 15 nights into 2021.

Over the past few months, Hilton Honors has announced several other program adjustments to help members while their travels may be limited – from Status and Point extensions to more contactless experiences through the Hilton Honors App. Here are the key details:

  •  2019 Status Extension: All members whose 2019 status was scheduled to be downgraded on March 31, 2020, whether it’s Diamond, Gold or Silver, will automatically receive an extension through March 31, 2021.
  • 2020 Status Extension: The 2020 member status is being extended through March 31, 2022. This means members who qualified in 2019 for status through March 2021 will continue to enjoy all the Diamond, Gold or Silver benefits for 24 months.
  • Points Extension: Hilton Honors has paused the expiration Points scheduled to expire till December 31, 2020.
  • Weekend Night Rewards Earned on Eligible Hilton Credit Cards: Hilton has extended the expiration date of all unexpired Weekend Night Rewards as of March 11, 2020, and all new ones issued until August 30, 2020, through the end of next summer (August 31, 2021), although this does not impact members globally.

If you are thinking of a Hilton Hotels stay, Hilton Hotels Indian properties are on sale indeed, right now.

Bottomline

Hilton has been leading from the front for members during the times and taking industry-leading steps to ensure their members don’t worry about their points and status during the times they have to stay at home and continue to engage with the programme when the time to travel returns.
