HDFC Bank Diners Club has been running a 10x Rewards promotion with selected partners for a very long time now. The current list of partners is the one that was put in place as of April 2016, but essentially focuses on travel and e-commerce. They initially put out a year long commitment to the promotion then they recalled it, and started to extend the date of the promotion by the month. Here are the announcements for April, May & June 2016.
Currently, they have announced that the promotion is valid through July 2016, but some partners have already announced their intention to go through the rest of the year with the promotion. Here are the details available at the moment:
- BookMyShow: Valid till April 1, 2017
- GoIbibo: Valid till March 31, 2017
- Cleartrip: Valid till December 31, 2016
- Yatra: No Current information
- Flipkart: No current information
- SnapDeal: No current information
- Luxehues.com: No current information

Just as a recap, you earn the following points on your cards with the various variants on the merchants mentioned above:
- Rewardz: 3 points/INR 150 + 27 points/INR 150 bonus [Total 30 points/INR 150]. Monetary Value of INR 22.5 [15% cashback]
- Premium: 4 points/INR 150 + 36 points/INR 150 bonus [Total 40 points/INR 150]. Monetary Value of INR 30 [20% cashback]
- Black: 5 points/INR 150 + 45 points/INR 150 bonus [Total 50 points/INR 150]. Monetary Value of INR 50 [33% cashback]
That gives us another month with this card, and I hope this game continues to be played till eternity, or HDFC Bank just confirms in one go the entire year. This continues to be the most lucrative promotion in the current year.

Leave aside the fact HDFC Diners removed most of the partners except for the three airlines, it is also noticed that the website, wherein you try to book the hotels, does not have some prominent hotels at famous places. For Eg Venetian or Sheraton or St Regis not available at Macau. When asked why are they not listed, they simply say they dont have a tie up…
I guess they genuinely need to change their vendors..
They have added Lifestyle to the list again, but have not updated the expiry date of the scheme. Hopefully new dates should also be posted soon.

What is the best option to redeem reward points for black card? Which one will give the maximum value?
Just wanting to share, HDFC has silently added expiry date to their Reward points ( just 2 years from the date of earning ) and as per the email I received from them this thing is applicable for reward points earned from Diners Club as well.
Thats HDFC at its best. But still this 10x is simply to good to be true – as an offer, that too from a bank like HDFC. The mantra here should be – “Earn points from this 10x offer as long as its there and burn it (good luck with that) as fast as you can.”
@AC: Can you mention from where did you get this information? The Diners website still shows reward points expiry as 3 years.
I wrote an email to them in order to clarify this. Heres what they wrote –
Please note, that the points have a validity of 2 years.
However, if you generate a voucher for the desired amount, that voucher is valid till 1 month from the voucher generation date.
To check the exact expiry date of your credit card points, please contact customer care.
That’s great news. It seems they will keep extending monthly until they reach their target of card users. meanwhile we can use.
And once they withdraw this offer they will loose minimum 60 percent of their users
