To recap, here are the massive numbers of points that you could earn when you spend on apparel and electronics using most of HDFC Bank’s credit cards. You can get all the way up to 53% of your money as miles, which is a huge number I think.

While I was keen on earning tons of JPMiles, the one question on my mind was whether purchases on online portals such as Flipkart or Amazon would be eligible or not. Last evening, we reached out to HDFC Bank, and they clarified that the Happy Hours bonus is valid at these merchants as well. That means you can now shop at the flick of a finger rather than having to go to the shops. No really!

What does that mean? Well, you can earn 10X points or miles when you buy apparel or electronics online. Still, as a precautionary measure, I’ll be buying eligible merchandise separately from of the rest the stuff in my cart to avoid any confusions.

Another interesting fact that I did not notice was that this promotion was valid on EMI transactions as well. If you are short on cash, go for the EMI option and you’ll still get 10X points. This is a welcome clarification from HDFC Bank as some of the best deals on electronics and apparel are available online. Though the Great Indian Sale and the Big Billion Days Sale are gone, there must be a Diwali sale coming up in some time to grant us the benefits of venture capital money and bring socialism back in vogue.
