For close to two years now, GoAir has been talking about going International. Last year, we were anticipating them to come out all guns blazing, but at the end, their plans were further delayed due to engine snarls on their A320neos. After the false start, it looks like GoAir international operations are finally going to start later this year.
GoAir is planning on launching their first international flight to Phuket, Thailand sometime in October 2018. The airline is looking at flying to three or four destinations by the end of the March 2019.
GoAir has already been permitted to fly to nine countries including major destinations like Doha, Male and Ho Chi Minh City over the past years by the Indian Government. Thailand approved the carrier’s plans to fly to their airports on August 10, 2018.

At the moment, I could not find any tickets for sale on their website or any primary online travel agency (OTA), but I expect that to change in the weeks to come. When the flight does end up taking to the skies, it will become the first direct flight between India and Phuket, which was long due, as Phuket is a popular destination amongst Indian travelers. Moreover, looking at the smile across Ajay’s face as I write this piece, he sure is keen on checking this flight out.
Bottomline
GoAir’s foray into international markets has been long overdue. While the airline takes baby steps toward their expansion abroad, it has a lot to catch up when compared to the other no-frills Indian carriers who are steadily growing their global footprint.
