Ethiopian Airlines operates twice-daily flights from Addis Ababa to Mumbai and Delhi each. While it operates an A350-900 to Mumbai on both frequencies, it operates 787s to Delhi on both flights. Then last year, Ethiopian Airlines added flights between Bengaluru and Addis Ababa as well. For many years, Ethiopian Airlines was rumoured to add flights to Chennai.

Well, Ethiopian Airlines have now announced the addition of flights to Chennai from Addis Ababa. The first flight is scheduled for April 1, 2020. Ethiopian Airlines will deploy a 787-8 on this route. The schedule for the new flight is,

To accommodate this flight, Ethiopian has cut two of their frequencies from Delhi, which will now get 12 weekly services instead of the 14 weekly services.

Ethiopian Airlines’ 787-8 feature 24 recliner business class seats and 246 economy class seats. Interestingly, the 787-8 will have a turnaround time of 18 hours in Chennai. This is probably done to the time it with some flights to the USA as well as within Africa.
