Emirates has been one of the biggest customers of the Airbus A380, which they’ve used to establish their presence on the world map big time. With 93 A380s already in service, it was time for them to shake things up a bit. And they will, at the ITB Berlin which is one of the leading trade shows in the world related to travel. The ITB is going to start today, and Emirates is fully expected to launch and showcase a few enhanced versions of their premium cabin experience there.
One of the things we know is that the on-board lounge will be enhanced on the A380 planes.
The airline states:
Since we first launched the product in 2008, our A380 Onboard Lounge has gone through small but successive enhancements in line with customer feedback to increase the amount of space for our customers to interact in the lounge. In our latest revamp, we have taken inspiration from private yacht cabins, and amongst other thoughtful touches, we have increased the seating space, and also made it more intimate and conducive for our passengers to socialize or enjoy our lounge service
This would mean, the new lounge will have seating across both sides of the bar with a table in between. A total of 26 passengers can stand or be seated in the On-board lounge. They released a video, which shows how awesome this looks.
Not just that, Emirates will make sure the 26 people will not be able to bother other people who value their sleep more than anything else. Their will be soundproof curtains to partition the lounge area from the other areas on the plane. There will be new window blinds integrated with LED mood lighting and surround sound too along with live television. The lounge area will also be colored up differently with a lighter champagne colors hue to make it feel airier.
The new product is making its public appearance at the Emirates’ booth during ITB Berlin, and will be first witnessed on a plane in July 2017 when it comes up on one of the new A380s that Emirates is going to take delivery of shortly, from Airbus.
Bottomline
I love the new design for the A380 lounge, and I’m also interested to see how their new premium cabin product looks like, which is rumored to be revealed today.
What do you think of the new onboard lounge which Emirates will install?
